A visit to the Muzeul Trenulețelor Valentin Banciu (Valentin Banciu Model Train Museum) is an absolute delight and a must-see for anyone in the area. This is precisely the kind of meticulously curated, passion-driven cultural gem that Romania needs more of.
The moment you step inside, you are transported into a beautiful miniature world. The museum isn't just a collection of trains, it's an incredibly detailed and beautifully decorated landscape. The artistry involved in creating the backdrops, villages, and environments for the train sets is nothing short of amazing. The effort put into showcasing the history not just of the trains themselves, but also the places they represent, truly elevates the experience.
A special mention must go to the staff. The lady at the entrance was wonderfully friendly and engaging. She took the time to personally share the fascinating history and story behind the museum, a personal touch that is sadly rare to find these days. It immediately made us feel welcome and enriched our appreciation for the collection.
While words can describe the beauty, the intricate pictures and the sheer scale of the displays truly speak for themselves. The museum is a masterpiece of craftsmanship and dedication. Our little one, a dedicated train lover, was the main reason for our visit, and he was completely amazed by the whole experience. Seeing his wide-eyed wonder as the miniature trains moved through the detailed landscapes was priceless.

Read moreI recently heard about this museum and, since we had visited the castle, I thought we should check this one out too. I hadn’t seen any pictures beforehand, and from the outside, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, except that the entrance is through the front cut of a train, which was quite unique.
But once you step inside, a whole new world opens up before your eyes, a world unlike anything I've seen elsewhere in Romania. Both my child and I were truly impressed. We spent about an hour inside, mesmerized by the exhibits and the moving trains.
This place absolutely deserves a spot on your to-do list. And if you have children, it's a magical experience that comes to life before their eyes, they’ll love the exhibits.
