Situated at the end of a 5 km scenic road coming from Moldovita Monastery, the Eggs Museum in Moldovita is a real, must-see gem. Egg painting is an ancient, intricate craft practiced across Bucovina, and Ms. Lucia Condrea has elevated this craft to a true form of art. Bearing pre-christian hutsul (the ancient local population) symbols, Ms. Lucia Condrea’s art combines traditional techniques with patented methods to create true egg jewels. An internationally acknowledged artist, Ms. Condrea has won a multitude of prizes and honors all over the world. Fortunately for us, we can now enjoy her creations by stepping into the museum, which itself is a jewel. Organized on two levels, the museum presents over 5000 items belonging to three main collections. The unique works of art of Ms. Condrea represents the greater part; there is a collection of very old, local painted eggs; and the international collection, featuring creations from all over the world. We were lucky to have Ms. Condrea’s husband as our guide through the museum, making our visit an unforgettable experience. We were passionately informed about the history of the museum, the life of the artist and the process of creation itself. Comorile Moldovitei Vizita la Muzeul Ouălor"Lucia Condrea" înseamnă o întâlnire emoționantă cu Bucovina eternă. Meritul artistei Lucia Condrea este inălțarea mestesugului tradițional al inchistririi ouălor la strălucirea marii arte. Pășind cu evlavie în acest spațiu fermecător, într-o atmosferă senină, unde totul emană frumusețe, înveți sa iubești și mai mult Bucovina și România, ești cuprins de o profundă admirație pentru fauritoarea acelor comori, în drumul ei continuu spre desăvârșirea unei creații artistice tot mai bogate. Cele 11000 de exponate originale realizate de Lucia Condrea, așezate cu un simț artistic rafinat în 106 vitrine, îți taie respirația! Camera hutula te face să te simți oaspete privilegiat, învăluindu- te într-o lumină caldă a unei familii de odinioară, cu oameni frumoși, pastratori ai portului popular și ai Credinței. Harnici și iscusiți, ei au adunat în lada de zestre a urmașilor tot ce au realizat, cu talent și iubire de frumos: cusături, țesături, dantele, broderii, ouă inchistrite. Lucia Condrea a preluat în mod creator aceasta prețioasă moștenire. Cu un talent remarcabil și o inspirație uimitoare, fără sfârșit, a pus pe coaja fragilă a oului motive ornamentale și simboluri vechi, adăugând, treptat, idei și imagini noi, și câte ceva din măreția culmilor împădurite, aurul fanetelor însorite, pacea divină a Credinței, farmecul și "tinerețea fără bătrânețe" a peisajului bucovinean. În timp, a inventat 14 tehnici noi de lucru, conturând un concept original numit "Arta Condrea". Motivele prezente pe exponatele realizate de artistă sunt cele folclorice, inspirate din vechi cusături hutule, broderii, dantele, laicere, covoare sau ștergare, dar și din arta abstractă și curentele artistice moderne. Elementele predominante sunt simbolurile astrale în numeroase ipostaze și variante ca:roată, cercul, rozeta. Alte motive sunt crucea, spicul de grâu și brăduțul, frunze și flori stilizate, forme geometrice, toate executate cu o finețe și un rafinament desăvârșit. Cromatica este absolut fascinanta, în nuanțe calde de rosu, galben, portocaliu, dar și verde, albastru, negru. Artista Lucia Condrea ne oferă un model admirabil de muncă neobosita pentru împlinirea unui ideal artistic, susținută de o documentare permanentă și profundă, transpusă în lucrările sale cu o forță creatoare de excepție. E minunat faptul că artista are sprijinul familiei sale și astfel, această înfăptuire impresionanta sub semnul frumosului artistic aduce bucurie oamenilor, îmbogățindu-i sufletește, și asigură o continuitate rodnica a păstrării tradițiilor ancestrale pe aceste meleaguri...

When I choose Moldovița for a 2-days stay I had no idea of the Painted Eggs Museum. My mother listened something about Mrs Lucia Condrea on TVR. However i got the chance of a magic time spent admiring the masterpiece of painting art on eggs. Really there is so much beauty and talent and inspiration on each collection , each egg and subject theme, that I felt the kind of emotion that gives you butterfly in the stomach. O almost have tears of emotion : beauty of each creation, high vibes all around and the words of Mrs Condrea and her wonderful daughter and husband . Magic art, wonderful people and good vibes of the Museum is the recipes of an unforgettable day filled with beauty in it’s perfect way of manifestation.
