FIJET members from Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Italy, Serbia, Tunisia andRomania attended the Golden Apple ceremony.Offering this trophy, the president of FIJET, Tijani Haddad said: „We came herebecause your national association, Romanian association, proposed this city, Oradea, toget the Golden Apple FIJET, the most important award in our organization. I would like tothank all the members of the Romanian association to be here with us and mainly to thepresident of the Romanian association because not only that he proposed Oradea but itseems that Stefan Baciu also loves this city very much. My first contact this morning withOradea was very positive because I have seen this city green, clean, smiling, welcomingand the witness of a big culture. Many highlights and many tourist attractions made thiscity, from my point of view, as one of the most important tourist destinations in the country.Tourism is a cultural message, religious message, friendship message, a peace messageand that is why we are promoting tourism through our organization. FIJET this year iscelebrating 65 years of existence starting with only 3 countries and now we are present inthe whole world because our aim is to promote the national tourism everywhere. Anotherthing very important that draw my attention as far as Oradea is concerned is what we callsustainable tourism because it seems that everybody participates in keeping it right.”The main reason to propose the City of Oradea to join the gallery of the places fromall the world awarded with the Golden Apple trophy is an increasing tourist attractiveness. They are remarkable the buildings in the Art Nouveau Secession architectural style. Forthis reason Oradea is so called “The Art Nouveau Capital”. The most representativebuilding in Art Nouveau style is Black Eagle Palace in the main square of Oradea, abuilding visited by FIJET delegation right after ceremony. The Golden Apple trophyrewarded the municipality for its intense work and will encourage it to continue. Taking theGolden Apple trophy, the Executive Director of the Association for Tourism Promotion ofOradea and Region, Mihai Jurca, addressed to the assistence: „We are truly honored toreceive this gift from you and from the FIJET organization. It is the result of many years ofwork and nowadays I am the lucky person to be the representative person of a big team.Behind all of these things that you have said or have seen, we have great people thathave struggled for the last ten years to develop the city. The municipality has a top priorityto develop tourism and it doesn’t mean only investing in tourism but also supporting theeconomic sector of the city. We take this prize as a token of responsibility and I hope thatyou will come back in five years and you will find more and more interesting things fromthe touristic point of view. Thank you very much for the honor of being here and I hopethat you will have two full days in Oradea.”Year after year, Oradea becomes one of the most attractive tourist destinations inRomania. Together with the development of Baile Felix resort, located very close, it canbecome a tourism...
Read moreIncredibly beautiful architecture, I recommend visiting this downtown area during the early hours, I walked around at 7am and it was absolutely breathtaking, with the bells of 2 churches nearby creating an amazing concerto that made the atmosphere simply unforgettable, it was also easy to take in the beauty of the buildings with the absence of the usual busy traffic during the afternoon hours!
This building was taken over by freedom fighters during the Romanian Revolution of 1989, when the people rebelled against the deadly totalitarian communist regime of Ceausescu.
Ceausescu used to shoot people at the border if they tried to escape the regime by leaving the country.
The Romanian flag with the communist emblem cut out in the middle was in the hands of people gathering on the steps and inside the building, while in many counties across the country people were being shot and killed by the communists trying to stop...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to visit the town hall tower in our city and it was an amazing experience. As we climbed to the top floor, we were able to admire the beautiful panoramic views of the city, with its buildings and streets stretched out below us. From the top, we could see far into the distance, as far as the mountains and hills in the horizon. The view from the tower was truly impressive and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
The town hall tower is easily accessible, with a wide and well-maintained staircase, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We felt welcomed and were delighted to be able to take a walk to the top...
