Drive all the way from Cluj, hugely excited about this fortified church. At 4pm on a Thursday we called Codruta Davidas as per instructions during opening hours (3 hours before closing) only to be rudely told that it is closed because she is in Sebes (only 6 miles away) and can’t be bothered, hanging up on us. Cetatea dacică de la Căpâlna este situată în județul Alba, în apropierea comunei Săsciori. A fost construită în perioada dacică, în jurul secolului I î.Hr., și făcea parte din sistemul de fortificații al Regatului Dac, destinat să protejeze capitala Sarmizegetusa Regia și să supravegheze drumul ce traversa Valea Sebeșului.Cetatea este așezată pe un vârf de deal la o altitudine de aproximativ 610 metri și beneficiază de o poziție strategică, oferind o vedere panoramică asupra zonei înconjurătoare. Zidurile cetății, construite din blocuri mari de piatră legate fără mortar, sunt un exemplu impresionant de arhitectură dacică. Fortificația includea turnuri, bastioane și o poartă de intrare monumentală. În interiorul cetății se găseau locuințe și spații de depozitare, iar unele dintre aceste structuri sunt încă vizibile astăzi.
