On the route to Medias we suddenly sighted an imposing fortress ruin on a mountain in the evening sun: the Stolzenburg in Slimnic. The road there is more like a bad footpath due to roadworks, I think it will be better in the future. As we arrive at the castle, we can see that you can visit it. Its even inhabited. The entrance fee is 3 lei per person (5 lei = 1 euro). No parking, you just park on the road. Maybe its a good idea to leave the car down in the village. We are happy to have seen this great and impressive 14th century ruin and take lots of pictures. Inside once stood an unfinished church ruin and you can climb the high tower with...

Amazing place. Super cute. The entrance fee is a small one. There is the best host that can give you a warm welcome: a small dog that runs free in the fortress's garden. The entrance leads to the court of the fortress. Following the path, at the bottom of the fortress, there is a small garden with plants and, also, you can find some animals as geese, chickens, ducks. There is a medium tower, it can be climbed. The view from the top is breathtaking. It's quiet and peaceful. I strongly recommend this place for those days when you're seeking silence and tranquility because it's that kind of place where you can just sit on the grass and...

There are no tickets, access is free but depends on a person. There is a phone number you are supposed to call for the guy with the key to come open it. (see picture) He is not always happy to come even though his chickens and vegetables live/grow within the walls. The history of the fortress is to be found on a paper posted on the left wall as you enter. Worth going to see the bell tower, the "make up" room, or the attempt to build the church. Look online for the history of the place as well, for more details about ottomans, plague...
