First of all: the woman in charge doesn't speak any other language than Romanian. So no English, Spanish and French as told on several websites. We arrived as family of five hoping to enjoy the swimming pool. But we couldn't use it because the water was just refreshed and the chloride-percentage was too high to swim. Also the next day, during the heatwave, the pool couldn't be used. When, on the second evening, the son in law, who cleaned the pool, told us we could swim, the children dove in the pool. But after half an hour the lady of the house send them out the pool again. While the water was perfect! While Romanian guests arrived and were welcomed with all 'egards' we felt rejected and unwelcome by the minute. On the day of our departure it appeard that we could not pay with creditcard! This was clearly possible according to our bookingforms. The only way was to drive to Sibiu to get cash money (20 km's!) and pay. We had the strong idea that the woman in charge of this Fawlty Towers-hotel was using us to earn some black money....
Read moreThis 3-star pension is prettily located near the foot of the Fagaras Mountains on a bend in the road some 30 km north of the town of Curtea de Arges. The terrace at the front of the building is decorated with flowers and offers great views of the Poienari Citadel. (The Citadel or castle was built in the 13th century but it was the infamous Vlad the Impaler who enlarged it in the 15th century and probably is the only castle/fortress in the country that has a real connection with the Wallachian prince.) Our room on the first floor was spacious, very clean with a view of the citadel. The bathroom had been recently renovated so was very nice. We arrived at noon and were allowed to check-in at that time which was great. The restaurant on the main floor has a good menu. The only drawback was the rather thin walls. The place has a monumental view right in front of the entrance in Pensiunea La Cetate you can see the medieval fortress. |Also you can visit it, really worth it, when you in you got that feeling that you are in era of Vlad Tepes , even thou it has no related history with him. The motel is really clean, with all that you need, everyting in rooms is new, also there is a pool inside... The price is ok, they also made a discount. The owner is an extraordinar man, his presence was so...almost invisible. It takes care of everything you need without feeling it. Also you can eat there if you want. |In this small medieval town you can find the most delicious fruits (apples), they are to find at 1 $ per Kg. (3,50 lei). They have no conservants...
