This is one of the most underrated and magnificently large parks in Moscow, especially for spring and summer. It offers a more nature oriented time while keeping itself public and accessible compared to other titans like Gorky and I must say that Kolomenskoye Park is far more enjoyable. It has it all, colourful trees for models and photographers, stone paths for a more olden feel, small hills with steep paths for those who want a casual hike, a myriad of wide open spaces perfect for picnics with loved ones or friends, Riverside cycling and picnics, and flowers and orchards galore. Historical monuments from the 16th centure are mixed here with vast fields of green and apple ochards, hidden ravines and breathtaking panoramas on the Moscow river. Read moreAn excellent escape from the big city crowds for some peace with mother nature. The wooden palace of Tsar has been rebuilt and is worth a visit for its gaudy interiors. I walked from the rocket church till the palace and did not feel unsafe at all. Make sure you go here on a good weather day.
The park is huge but both ends of the park have Metro stations. You can arrive via one and leave from the other (I got off at Kolomenskaya and took the train back to city center from Kashirskaya).
