Review of Frigate Bay – St. Kitts
“The Island’s Most Popular Beach and Entertainment Destination”
Frigate Bay is one of the most visited and well-known areas in St. Kitts, located just a few minutes outside of the capital city, Basseterre. It is considered the island’s main tourist district, famous for its beautiful beaches, resorts, vibrant nightlife, and recreational activities.
Frigate Bay is divided into two main beach areas — North Frigate Bay and South Frigate Bay — each offering a different experience. The North Bay faces the Atlantic Ocean, with stronger waves and wind, making it perfect for water sports like surfing and kiteboarding. In contrast, South Frigate Bay opens up to the calm, crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea, making it ideal for swimming, relaxing, and family outings.
Historically, the area around Frigate Bay was less developed and primarily used for small-scale farming and fishing. However, with the growth of tourism in the late 20th century, Frigate Bay transformed into a hotspot for luxury hotels, vacation rentals, and beach bars, while still preserving its natural beauty.
One of the biggest attractions of Frigate Bay is The Strip — a lively stretch of beachside bars and restaurants along South Frigate Bay Beach. The Strip comes alive at night with music, dancing, local cuisine, and beach parties. Popular spots like Vibes Beach Bar, Mr. X’s Shiggidy Shack, and Boozies are famous for their Caribbean-style seafood dishes, cocktails, and live entertainment.
Frigate Bay is also home to some of the island’s best resorts and golf courses. The St. Kitts Marriott Resort and the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club are both located in this area, offering luxury accommodation and world-class amenities.
Another special feature of Frigate Bay is its stunning view of the nearby hills and the island of Nevis across the Caribbean Sea. Visitors often enjoy hiking the nearby hills or relaxing on the beach while watching the sunset over the water.
Why visit Frigate Bay? It offers the perfect blend of relaxation and entertainment. Whether you are looking for a peaceful beach day, a fun night out, or a taste of Kittitian hospitality and culture, Frigate Bay has something for everyone. It represents the modern, tourist-friendly side of St. Kitts while still maintaining the island’s natural charm and friendly atmosphere.
Frigate Bay continues to be a symbol of how St. Kitts has embraced tourism while preserving its natural beauty and...
Read moreExtremely busy unfortunately 3 other cruise ships were docked at the cruise terminal on the same day, plus another at frigate bay. Taxi service was hectic at the port, drivers arguing over where to take people because beaches were full. Our cab driver took us to friars beach via Timothy hill which was a short drive, let us get out and take pictures, be careful of the guys with monkeys they will literally pass the monkey onto you, then after demand $10. Driver wasted a lot of time driving us to different beaches as most were extremely busy with no space, beds or umbrellas. Driver didn’t really seem to care just wanted us out the cab. Eventually took us to frigate beach after a lot of driving around. Beach was very busy couldn’t find beach chairs, complained to the driver to take us somewhere else as there was no point leaving us at a beach with no space on such a hot day, we’d rather go somewhere else. Driver eventually went and spoke to the bar staff at Zanzi bar and grill and we luckily got the last 2 beds but no umbrella for $10 the pair. All the other empty beach chairs around the beach were reserved already and unable to rent. Water wasn’t very clear very rocky and many stones, regardless of how deep you went in. Sand had a lot of litter, really wasn’t anything great about it tbh. Wouldn’t recommend, go...
Read moreFrigate Bay is a quite scenic bay in St. Kitts it is often featured in those iconic photos of the island. The Bay is quite an interesting spot on the island, since there are day and nighttime activities for everyone. On the beach there are restaurants, bars, hotels, nightclubs and beach activities. (fun for the whole family).
A favorite spot for party goers and picnickers, this area has it all. I went there twice and was told about it often, some spoke of the best Jamaican food outside Jamaica and others of the best beach nightclub lime on the island.
The Picturesque Bay with astounding landscape and seascape views of the surrounding area is a must see for anyone...
