So firstly to clarify the road here is not too bad, yes it is uneven and you’ll sway about a bit but it’s only a 10min drive (timed it each time we went) and as has been said multiple times in these reviews, it’s well worth it! You go down to the hotel and park in the visitor car park - which is mercifully quite shaded - and then you’re free to walk right on in. Sometimes at beaches with hotels here you have to say you’ll be using the bar/restaurant or getting a beach chair to use the hotel visitor parking, but we didn’t have to do that here and we didn’t buy anything so can’t give an idea of costs. We were told it’s the most luxurious on the island so I imagine quite expensive! The beach has lovely black sand, plenty of palm trees for shade if needed and it has the best coral reef on the island over on the left. You can also take the path along to Anse Mamin which the hotel has facilities on top but this is quieter, but both beaches are nice and quiet. Handily there are open showers to wash off after a swim. Best beach...
Read moreUpdate: we finally snorkeled in the Marine Reserve section to the left when you arrive at the beach. There is a large roped off area past the boats that is filled with rocks, coral, and fish. It’s beautiful! I highly recommend this for anyone who loves to snorkel. Public can use it. You just have to swim around the parked boats. We left our stuff past the stairs on the last patch of sand. We drove which is quite the adventure by itself, crossing rivers and climbing single lane cobblestone paths with falling rocks. Yes, you are going the right way. Once we arrived there was visitor parking and the friendly guards provided instructions on the ways to the Chastanet and the Mamin beach. We opted for Mamin which is a walk along the shoreline. Keep going. You will be handsomely rewarded. The snorkeling was okay but the water is lovely. See my review of Mamin for...
Read more4x4 required for the drive into Jade Mountain Resort. Visitors segregated to the left with boats coming in (no problem). US$30 each for a lounger. Snorkeling was quite underwhelming having snorkelled in Barbados over a ship wreck with loads more fish and turtles. Some staff were friendly but with others you felt like you were bothering them a bit. They did not once take our order at our sunlounger despite having the ordering flag up in plain view. Was US$30 for a club Sandwich which was not worth the money. If you are looking for a beach with snorkeling you may as well go to the Sugar Bay beach (we managed to get 2 for 1 sunloungers US$75 for 1 after putting our towel down 'too close' to others), the food was great and a similar price to Anse Chastenet and the service...
