During our our river cruise we were brought to Sremski Karlovski. This beautiful museum was part of the tour. Zivanovic family started wine making in 1770. Over the years the new generation has grown the business with modern technology in wine making. Beside wine the family also started beekeeping in 19thcentury. Their achievement inspired many other Serbian families to start beekeeping as their source of income. The museum was worth seeing for its old furniture, pictures, books and other tools of beekeeping. Afterwards we were taken to underground 300 years old wine cellar where wines are stored in unchanging microclimatic conditions. It was awesome. Then we were taken to upper floor where in a big hall we tasted three wines with cheese and honey. Read moreThis place has been a huge disappointment. I went there full of energy to see how the community produces honey and ready to taste it. Unfortunately the person responsible was extremely rude and didn't allow me to enter the museum saying that they have groups although I visited during working hours and nowhere it mentioned that a reservation should be made or that I had to attend a group in order to enter. Commercialization can be cruel and sometimes it fires back. So... if you are not a group... don't get into the trouble to spend time and energy for this great...

The town is small, but lovely and nice to stroll. There is a travel info office downtown that is very helpful. They called ahead for us to make sure we could get in. Sometimes they get large groups and can’t accommodate independent travelers. Easy to get to on the high speed train. You can take a bus, but the train is nicer, faster, less expensive and way more...
