Hi, I would like to provide feedback on the current restrictions within the children’s zone of the library. I understand and appreciate the importance of creating designated spaces for children to enjoy age-appropriate activities and resources. However, I would like to express my concern regarding the policy that restricts access to certain games and areas to strictly children.
In my observation, there are times when the children’s zone is not occupied by any children, yet young adults and adults are still not allowed to participate in activities intended for that zone. I believe that as long as library users adhere to the rules of not creating disturbances and respect the primary purpose of the area, there should be flexibility regarding who can use these spaces.
Additionally, it is not uncommon to see adults in the children’s zone, possibly using resources from other sections of the library. This suggests that the space is used by individuals of various ages for different purposes.
Today, I was approached by a staff member to leave the children’s zone, even though it was not fully used by children at that time. This experience was quite upsetting, especially given the circumstances. I felt that the enforcement of the policy in this instance was overly rigid and did not consider the actual use of the space.
I would like to encourage the library to reconsider the restrictions or introduce more flexible guidelines that would allow all patrons, regardless of age, to enjoy the facilities as long as the primary intention of each space is respected.
Thank you for considering my feedback. I look forward to seeing how the library evolves in making all users feel welcome...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful library but the librarians??? not so much… Accidentally dozed off while doing my work the other day and the librarian came to slam on the table? I’m sorry a simple wake up call would have sufficed. No need to slam the table for everyone to hear. That’s just unnecessary. I understand the rule that we cannot sleep in libraries to not disturb others but that was simply unacceptable. Additionally, my friends and I were at the entrance of the library to discuss something so as to not disturb others in the programme room and the study area. She came to chase us out of the library? I’m sorry but who in the right mind is studying or reading at the entrance of the library! I do not see her chasing kids who are screaming and making loud noise out. In fact we were whispering to each other, in a volume that is barely audible. And it always happens with this one specific librarian in the library (the indian lady with glasses) not trying to make anyone’s life difficult but I really don’t think its difficult to show some kindness to another. Also I have been kicked out of level 5 multiple times already. I know it states that it is a kids section but i’m simply minding my own business and doing my work upstairs. I do not understand why these librians have a stick up their ahh or smth. I was not disturbing anyone and was simply minding my own business on my computer. Will not be coming back to this librarian with such a unfriendly atmosphere and just bad energy overall, would recommend for others to do the...
Read moreI think that the Choa Chu Kang Library is very spacious, especially when I walked in. Once you walk around the fiction shelves, you’ll notice that there’s this seating area of 6 chairs around this round table. That’s a good place to work on your computers, study, and read.
Once you see that, just walk towards the window and look left and right, you’ll notice there’s this long table connected to the wall, and multiple people can sit there. That’s a really nice place for reading, studying, and working on your computers. The view is also nice when you look out the window, depending on where you’re sitting though.
They have this specific Malay section of books, and there’s 3 small sections that are kind of curved in, and about 4-5 people could fit in there. Once you walk a bit farther, there’s this section with teen books, and you’ll have to go down a few steps, but it has a really nice section.
Once you’ve passed the teen section, you’ll see stairs going up. If you go up those stairs, you’ll see the children’s section. First you’ll see the family and parenting section; then to the right, you’ll see the children's books.
Overall, I think the Choa Chu Kang Library is nice and spacious, and has a good selection of different books. Nice area for sitting. A good place to read, study, and work on...
