One of the worst customer service experience I had at a bowling alley.
We encountered a mechanical issue with our lane. The bowling ball became lodged in the gutter midway down the lane during my friend's turn. He attempted to dislodge it with another ball, which also became stuck. Shortly after, the lane screen displayed a message indicating a technical problem and that a technician had been notified. However, no staff member arrived to assist us.
I approached the counter to request assistance. A female employee with shoulder-length hair, wearing a black sweater, was present and occupied with her phone. It took several attempts to gain her attention. When I explained the situation, she angrily accused us of causing the malfunction. I explained that I was not the person bowling when the issue occurred. She insisted that the person responsible come to the counter. Upon my return to my group, the employee used the public address system to demand that the person who "jammed the machine" report to the counter to provide an explanation. My friend complied, and she proceeded to reprimand him, stating that he would be liable for any damages if the machine was irreparable. She also demanded his name and contact details.
The issue was eventually resolved when the lane was reset, and the stuck balls were cleared. However, the employee further addressed us via the PA system, warning us to report any problems to her directly and to refrain from attempting to resolve them ourselves.
I believe this situation was handled poorly. We felt publicly humiliated by the employee's use of the PA system to address us, particularly her accusatory tone. Her demeanour was unprofessional and unnecessarily confrontational. A more appropriate response would have been to acknowledge the issue, reassure us that a staff member would assist us shortly, and address us in a calm and respectful manner. This was not the only instance of poor customer service we experienced with this employee. Earlier, when a friend inquired about the location of the restroom, she responded curtly and rolled her eyes.

Read moreI have never given anywhere or anyone a bad review before, and this is going to be the first time! I wouldn't even give it a 1 star rating! It should be negative because the guy behind the counter whom I presumed should be Peter is a very negative person! Let me put it in point form otherwise I'll be writing a long essay. ▪️Kept calling my name over the microphone and over trivial matters. ▪️Threaten to shut down the lanes that the kids are currently bowling and also threaten to chase us out. ▪️Ball stuck and no assistance was given. I had to walk down the lane to retrieve the ball. When I feedback, all that guy said was... Just throw another ball to hit the ball that was stuck. ▪️He even had the audacity to lecture me to control the kids thinking that I'm some kind of pro/experienced bowler that knows all the rules. What's worst? All the while, that guy is just sitting behind the counter expecting me to do his job. At least brief me beforehand on the do's & don'ts instead of just yapping behind the counter! ▪️At one point, that guy closed the lanes for about 8-15mins! Those are just kids having some fun as part of a bday celebration, they are not damaging any of the property and although they are noisy when bowling. Who doesn't get excited when they score a strike or a spare? What is supposed to be a happy occasion is turned sour because of that person negativity. I do not want to confront him because I don't want to ruin the atmosphere any further. I will be more than happy to engage with him further. The part that infuriates me most was when he threatens to close the lanes and ask us to leave. Please la.. they are not damaging anything or posing any form of danger to other members of the public. If you can't stand it, go find another line of work! Go work in the office, face a computer or something. Avoid customer service or any jobs with human interactions pls! Because that is really not suitable for someone with low EQ. If anyone is looking to bowl at Kallang bowl to celebrate a joyous occasion, pls go...
Read moreThis is my second time at Kallang bowl and my experience here has been absolutely horrible to say the least, because of the assistant bowling manager, Wong Wee Ming, Damien.
I was attended by Damien on both visits. He was utterly unprofessional and impatient on both visits. On the second visit, he presented two options - 1. Pay by game or 2. Pay by hour. He didn’t give us any details about the differences between both options and told us it was basically the same thing. We decided to go with the “pay by hour” option because it was cheaper so it made more financial sense.
As we were in the middle of our second game, we realized that we only had 3 mins left in our game but we knew the hour we had paid for wasn’t up yet (backed by the time on our receipt). When we spoke to Damien, he told us that it was company policy that the 1 hour started before payment was made (when we were at the counter). This means that the countdown started even before we paid, how ridiculous is that? He basically told us take it or leave it as it was company policy and that we had to deal with the consequences as we had paid for the 1 hour cheaper option instead of the per game option.
As we were leaving, I asked for his name and he arrogantly gave me his name card and told me “feel free to write an email to complain”. As we were speaking, he even told me this “if you have anything more to say, you can wait at the side till I’m done with my work”. This is absolutely ridiculous and I was shocked to hear that coming from him.
It has been absolutely unpleasant experience and I would highly recommend everyone not to bowl at Kallang bowl unless you are looking for someone to...
