Mago Korean Beauty Salon — Attraction in Singapore

It’s been 12 days since I had a perm done by Hwi. I wanted to leave some time for the hair to settle before reviewing. I have had annual perms done by Korean stylists over the last 10 yrs and this is the first time I would call my hairstyle stupid-looking. Not eloquent, but I think it’s the most apt description. A very curly fringe coupled with flat and straight rebonded hair which ends in a gentle c curl. This rather strange combination of a (very) curly fringe with a straight body of hair looks completely unnatural (who only has half a head of curly hair?) and is rather uncomplimentary. After the perm, I expressed my dislike of the poodle-like fringe but was told it was due to the intern not having styled it very well. I did think at the time that none of the previous stylists I had would have left the final touches to someone who could get it so wrong but trusted that following Hwis styling suggestions at home would improve the look. I have since tried his suggestion and a variety of other methods - blowing up, blowing down, curling, not curling, treatment to get rid of frizz etc and suffice to say I go to work with my fringe pinned up so that people will take me seriously. The rest of the hair is normal, nothing that seems to require much skill. To be fair, I forgot to explicitly state I don’t like flat hair as I thought it would be obvious in someone asking for a perm. I have no complaints about the service and process, just the outcome and the time I now waste on fixing a silly...

I brought my boy to Mago to have his haircut and perm as he was keen to try for a first time. We were really impressed by Joe and his staff. Not only did he manage to calm my nervous boy down by telling him every step that he would be doing, he also eventually managed to put a big smile on my boy’s face with a superb end results that looked exactly what he had wanted. Joe then went on to show my boy a few tips on how to maintain the curls. We were definitely impressed by his friendliness, professionalism and skills - needless to say, we would be back again for sure! This time round, I will be the one trying out cut and perm myself!
