Have been wanting to try this place finally got a chance to as another friend was interested to try as well. Visited on a weekday evening and was impressed by the service of the staff. Decided to order the 2 signature dishes, the spicy prawn and the sauerkraut fish. They seemed pretty big but it was actually manageable for 2 to finish. First the sauerkraut fish, the fish was definitely very fresh and had a very smooth texture. The soup was also very good as it was slightly sour and was very appetizing. Not sure why the staff said it was mildly spicy there wasn't any spice at all and it was very delicious. Next we had the fragrant spicy prawns. It really looks spicy but in fact would say its just mildly spicy. The sauce is really good and it's a very good condiment to go with the plain rice I wished I could takeaway the remaining home. The prawns were also very fresh and succulent and I also enjoyed it a lot with the combination of the vegetables in the dish. The special corner also had drinks like customizing your own Chinese tea or cold drinks and ice cream for unlimited flow at just a dollar. We were told that there is actually a time limit for dining, but they wouldn't disturb us if there was no queue outside. Unfortunately we were notified of the queue and we had to leave, but by then we already finished our meal and was just about to leave. Everything was okay, except for 2 things wish they could improve on. The ice cream tasted quite horrible in my opinion it just was too artificial as if someone kept stirring powder to milk to churn the ice cream. It was very powdery and lacked flavour. It would also be better if there is an online reservation system available for bookings. Price of meal was slightly expensive but felt it was rather worth it for the portion...
Read moreThis restaurant really needs to work on and improve its customer service . My family member made a call to this restaurant on a Friday to reserve a table for 2 persons on a weekend for lunch .However we were informed that reservations were not required for a table of two persons . We could just walk in. When I turned up at the restaurant at One Holland V today , I was taken aback when one of the staff inquired whether I had reservations . As the restaurant was full I was asked to wait for an available table . Though I was visibly disappointed , I agreed as I was first in line of the wait list . A second couple arrived shortly after and I overheard their conversation that they too had no reservations and were asked to wait as well . When a table became available , the restaurant staff at the counter informed me that since my other dining party had not arrived yet , they couldn’t allow me to have the table despite I told the staff that my family member was already on his way up . The table was instead given to another party of two with no prior reservations made . My point is this , if restaurants have a dining policy that requires all parties to be present before they can be seated at a table , it is only fair that they should notify all diners while taking down their reservations . This creates an awareness upfront of the restaurant’s dining policies and gives diners an option to choose between waiting or moving on . It is simply bad customer service to pass a table over a customer who is first in line on the wait list . As such we decided to forego our dining experience at Little Pond despite the good reviews given over the food and vowed never to return . Creating a good Customer experience is...
Read moreApart from having a super cute name, Little Pond at One Holland Village is truly delicious and family friendly restaurant to dine at. I have seen snaking queues at this restaurant on weekend evenings, and have always wanted to try it for myself.
On this visit, we tried their famous Chinese Sauerkraut Fish, and their Peranakan Prawns! The snakehead fish slices in the Chinese Sauerkraut broth were so tender and had totally no fishy odours to them. It’s perfect for people like me who aren’t good with fish bones, simply because it is so convenient to eat and you can enjoy every mouthful with ease.
The Peranakan Prawns were a huge hit with my family! Instead of Mala which is likely a good pairing with Chinese Sauerkraut soup on the side, we opted to try a well-loved Southeast Asian flavor and didn’t regret it at all! The Peranakan sauce had generous amounts of lemongrass and kaffir lime flavors, all of which we loved. Not only were the prawns excellent, the accompanying vegetables were truly delicious as well.
Service was excellent, and my kids loved the $1 add-on for free flow drinks, condiments and dessert and it’s so nice that they even have a cone/cup option for the soft serve! Overall an excellent experience. I...
