A Secluded Urban Oasis with (almost) Breathtaking Views
I visited Pearls Hill City Park for the first time today and was completely captivated by this hidden gem! Nestled just minutes from the city bustle, the park feels like a secret escape into a lush, tropical wilderness.
The rich vegetation is the star here — dense, green, and wonderfully maintained. I was especially impressed by the large, tall trees that canopy over the pathways, creating a serene and shaded atmosphere perfect for a quiet stroll or some reflective time.
Be prepared for a bit of a workout though — there are many, many stairs winding through the slopes. But every step is worth it! As you climb, you’re rewarded with stunning views overlooking the Outram medical village and beyond. It’s a unique perspective of Singapore, blending nature with the urban landscape in a way that feels almost cinematic.
What struck me most was how secluded and peaceful the park feels, even though it’s tucked right in the heart of the city. I didn’t encounter many people, making it an ideal spot for solitude, photography (I took 40 pictures — couldn’t help myself!), or simply reconnecting...

It is behind Outram MRT station and you find it between Chinatown and Chin Swee Road. The 9-hectare park is a great place to take a good break from the rush and noise of the city. Nothing really spectacular but nice city views, Tembusu trees, green plants, rest areas and quietness. The Reservoir was built from 1898-1904 and is one of the oldest surviving reservoirs built by the British. It holds drinking water and is all fenced up, as such the Park is built around the Reservoir. Note: Pearl's Hill (now at 45meter) used to be higher than Fort Canning Hill, but the British decided to cut off the top, lowering its peak below the newly built...

Visitors can look forward to enjoying the wooded ambience provided by the mature Tembusu trees while basking in the serenity of the park. Alternatively, sit back and relax by the pond and admire the beautiful lotus plants. When in full bloom, the lotus plants provide a brilliant splash of colour across the pond’s still waters.
