Went to St George's 10am service today while on holiday. We were keen to revisit the church which we had attended from 1991-1996, where we came to know the Lord & where we were both involved in youth & children's work. We arrived early & stayed for coffee afterwards. Apart from sharing the peace in the service not one person spoke to us. The preaching was helpful & prayers appropriate but the singing no where near as enthusiastic as our small home church - looking around in the first song I began to wonder if we were supposed to be singing! This was a church we had loved but we left downhearted today. My first time here was when I jogged by one evening from home. Had heard about this historically and architecturally significant church last time and bookmarked it on Google Maps, so I was happy to have a chance to see it for myself.
