It’s OK. Photos can be misleading and makes the place look bigger and more well stocked than it actually is. Went there to eat the food but there are stalls with no seats at all. The only seats are the restaurant out front.
The stalls are inside which I wanted to buy food from but gave up as there are no seats so since there was a queue for fried banana so also queued for that. It was ok, it’s sweet but expensive for those few pieces.
The stall selling Peach Yoghurt drink was really yummy. They were also selling some buns with fillings inside but for $3.80 I don’t think it’s worth it.
Bought some fish sauce, a jar of Tom yum paste and ingredients for Tom yum soup. Would I come back to this Thai Supermarket? Probably not.
The old one was much more alive and had a less less manufactured feeling. It was super well stocked. This one just felt pretty average and the fun and exotic Thai experience plus variety of the many foods u could eat inside was gone.
Also a shame that they brought in a new fried banana stall instead of keeping...
Read moreDecent Thai supermarket stocking authentic Thai products, spices, ingredients and even self care items! Even houses their own fried Thai banana shop.
Came by the newly relocated Thai Supermarket which was originally from Golden Mile. It is now relocated in Aperia Mall; which used to be rather quiet. I believe that the mall will be busier now with the influx of the shops from Golden Mile.
Supermarket had a lot of local Thai products and included a lot of Thai condiments which you can’t find easily in regular local supermarkets. I love it that they stock some self care items which I had to previously travel to Golden Mile just for it. Shopping aisles are slightly more cramped vs the previous shop which seemed to have a bigger area. So do be mindful not to knock into other patrons.
The fried banana shop had a pretty long queue. The fried banana was fried to a crisp and wasn’t too mushy either. Do be prepared to wait if you intend to queue for the fried banana, but you will be rewarded when you get the bag of fried banana...
Read moreFood wasn't very authentic, prices were quite high and portions were small. Tried the green curry and phad see ew, for which I had very high expectations for. However, the phad see ew was very disappointing, it was lacking in taste, a far cry from the ones I had in Thailand. The green curry was average, a good thing about it was that it wasn't too sweet. Also, their green curry doesn't come with rice, so do remember to order it separately.
I find that the items on their menu have an option to choose the ingredients added (e.g. chicken, prawn etc.) but at rather steep price increments. The default option for the dish would be vegetarian, which by itself is already not cheap.
Overall, this place doesn't really serve up authentic Thai food, I'd recommend going elsewhere to get your Thai food fix if...
