Šášovský hrad, perched above the Hron River near Žiar nad Hronom in Slovakia, is a hidden gem for history lovers and hikers alike. The partially restored ruins offer a picturesque view and a peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal stop on a weekend trip. Accessible via a short but scenic forest trail, the castle's remains hint at its medieval past, with walls and towers that stir the imagination. A lovely, off-the-beaten-path destination worth visiting for nature and history...
