A magical valley with a lake of glacial origin ("pleso" in Slovak), great for simple walks or even challenging hiking.

The closest parking is roughly ~10 minutes of normal paced walking, but I would recommend to park elsewhere as it's grossly overpriced.

The nature here is stunning and unique and you can choose from several walking/hiking routes of various difficulties - a simple walk towards the cabins down by the lake (where you can get something to drink and eat), walking around the entire lake, or hiking high into the Tatra mountains.

What I really liked was an old-school wooden back carry bracket with attached material (gas bottle, etc.) that you could haul up to the cabin high in the mountains in exchange for a hot tea. It's freely available on the intersection between the hike path up to the mountains and the road to the cabin by the lake, and you if you are up for a challenge, you can grab one you like and just carry it up like they did it in the...

A beautiful mountain lake in the Tatras. We reached it via a well marked, red trail from Strbske Pleso. The trail sometimes goes up, sometimes down, and about halfway the beautiful views start. The lake is a good starting point if you wish to go higher to the mountains, for example to the Osterva pass or to mount Rysy.

There is a mountain refuge by the lake, we ate a cabbage soup (kapustova polievka) for 3,90 EUR, and had a Kofola drink and a Saris beer. Payment was only in cash. The toilets were 0,50 EUR, so ensure to have some coins with you.

There is a yellow marked trail around the lake, it takes approximately 30 minutes to walk around, the path is easy and the views are great. About halfway, the trail splits and you can get to the Tatra symbolic cemetery with picturesque, colourful crosses and memorials of people who lost their lives in...

Easily accessible and beautiful place. A suitable hike for kids.

you can take a road which is suitable for strollers you can take a trail from Štrbsle pleso (green mark) - this one is not suitable for a stroller

Parking is quite expensive (12-15e) You can park near the train station or at Štrbské pleso. The parking near the train station (TEZ Popradské pleso) can get full quite quickly. You can park for free at the main road, which is - approx. 2 km far. In the season (July / August) the place is crowded. It’s a starting point for Rysy hike, and you can have issue with parking if you come late.

You can buy food and drinks at the restaurants (paying by card is possible)

You can rent an e-bike for the way up...

Beautiful place both in summer and in winter!!! Definitely worth to see it! You can get there by forest path along the Poprad river (about 1.5-2 hours from Strbske pleso) or in a simpler way by asphalt road (about 40-60 minutes from Popradske pleso station). Both ways are not complicated, so even small children can do that. There is a hotel and restaurant at the lake, so you can take a rest and admire the beautiful landscapes. All the trip will take about 4 hours.
