Rakov Škocjan Landscape Park — Attraction in Cerknica

This place... This is in my absolute top 5 in the area around where I live (Trieste). Not too far (around an hour by car), not too touristy, no entry fee, feels wild but it's actually very well kept by whoever takes care of the area and it has a different feel in each season you decide to visit it so definitely plan a second, third and fourth trip (a fifth will be good too). One of the most beautiful natural reserves in Slovenija and in the world. Natural stone bridges carved by water into limestone, tall green trees, lakes, canyons and creeks and rivers offer a possibility to take a nice one day trip for healthy outdoor activities. By foot or by bicycle you get the most out of your time in nature. If you are lucky and your timing is right you can even eat some wild strawberries for free, just pick them up. Few kilometres from disappearing Cerknica lake you can find The Rakov Škocjan valley. Valley itself was formed by the sinking and collapsing of cave ceiling. What remained of ceiling are two breathtaking natural stone bridges. Little natural bridge can be found at the easter side of valley, 40 meters above Rak river.
