..........We know very little about this venue so we were looking forward to our escapade here! When you turn off the main road and enter the gates and permit yourself just to gaze over the beautiful picturesque Stellenbosch area and the lay-out of this location then you alreadii know it's going to be exciting-lii enjoyable! On the drive to the Manor House you pass-by luscious green grass patches and a large dam, which sets the adrenaline and the heart-beat up in anticipation, there were lots and lots of car parked all along the road and looked like a public car-park telling us that this place is full of people and we hoped that there will still be place for us in the restaurant!? But to our surprise and amazement we discovered that they have a very large flea-marketing going here on a Saturday, with a beer-garden, a full pub and a band entertain the people with live music and songs! Wow! Wow! This place was rocking and the vibe was good! Then we saw the Big Cape Dutch Manor House which houses the restaurant and many more different kinds of blending-rooms as we learnt later! They offer something very different from what we know and am use to, they offer Tea & Coffee Blending, Olive Oil Blending & Wine Blending! When we rounded the corner we were in awe of the beautiful settings the massive garden where patrons were seated outside on the lawns under big trees and also large garden umbrellas, and there wasn't even an open place for us! Sad! Sad! we had to take a seat inside which is rather small only a few tables some that could seat up-to twelve people, eight people and four people fortunate-lii we got the table right at the door so we could enjoy the picturesque views while still waiting for a table to go free outside! We were met by the manager of the day Caleb van Oudtshoorn who quick-lii made us comfortable and also give us a short but concise history of the establishment even explaining the Duck-parade of which we were ignorant of! And if anyone wonders who instructs ducks to march?? Caleb told us the story "the ducks follow the guy in the Blue overalls coz he is the one that feeds them and they will follow him all the time and at the back is the guy in the Red overalls that the ducks are running away from from coz he take there eggs away from them" What a logical explanation and as we witnessed later at 15:30 the Spectacular and Quaint phenomenal "Duck-Parade"....We were taken aback by the plan-ness of the table settings here, no fancii table-cloths, no fancii cutler-ii just plan down to earth making one fell at home rather then at an elegant fine dine 3 course lunch setting! The starters come as a Platter for two to share which had on it:- choriso sausage, cream-cheese, two kinds of bread, crisp bread and a green salad with apples and nuts in! Absolute-lii divine! The Main meal was a choice of:- 1.) Pork loin with mashed sweet-potato, mushroom puree, broccoli, Shiraz jus & cracking! 2.) 14-hour smoked beef brisket with potato wedges, caramelized onion puree, onion crisp, confit onion & Malbec jus! And the main meals came with sides which was roasted cauliflower, roasted rainbow carrots, honey dipped turnips with nuts & cream spinach! 3.) Mussels in a fennel cream-ii white wine-sauce & ciabatta.....and we went for the Meat-ii dishes which turned out to be insidious-lii delicious! The dessert platter also is for two to share:- mini lemon tarts with strawberry pecan-nut crumble, brie spring-rolls with chill-ii tomato jam! How incredible this visit turned out to be! Worthwhile to mention is the outstanding services we received from our waiter/waitress Temba & Rula who was not shy to communicate and share their knowledge of the Vergenoegd wines! We landed up having the Rose' who was not sweet but very fruit-ii and love-lii tasting! PS! The duck have a major role to play on the wine farm as they are used to get ride of the pest making the use of poisonness insecticides less! Very Eco-friend-lii..........This is a must visit place for all as it's absolute-lii fabulous in it's own unique...
Read moreWhere do I begin? My recent stay at Vergenoegd Löw The Wine Estate was an experience of a lifetime! As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome by the staff and taken aback by the stunning beauty of the estate and the surrounding vineyards. The tour of the production facilities was fascinating and gave us a real appreciation for the effort and care that goes into producing the estate's world-renowned wines. And speaking of wines, the tasting experience was a treat for the taste buds - every sip was like a party in our mouths.
The highlight of our stay, though, was definitely the 5 course lunch at the restaurant. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted divine, leaving us feeling like royalty. And our host, Britney, was an absolute gem - her warmth and hospitality made us feel right at home.
As if all that wasn't enough, the spa experience was a slice of heaven on earth. My partner and I both had one of the best massages of our lives, thanks to the magic hands of Olivia.
Overall, I can't recommend Vergenoegd Löw The Wine Estate highly enough. The combination of stunning scenery, exceptional wine, and top-notch hospitality made for an unforgettable experience. I can't wait to go back and do it all over again!
Now, let me tell you about something truly unique about Vergenoegd Löw The Wine Estate - the ducks! Yes, you read that right - the estate has over 1,000 Indian Runner ducks that roam the vineyards and help with pest control. These feathered friends are an essential part of the estate's eco-friendly farming practices, as they naturally eat insects and snails that can harm the vines. Not only are they adorable to watch as they waddle around, but they're also doing their part to help the environment.
But back to the estate itself - it truly is a special place. The combination of natural beauty, outstanding wine, and exceptional hospitality is truly unparalleled. And the attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the experience, from the perfectly manicured gardens to the artfully crafted dishes at the restaurant.
So if you're looking for a unique and unforgettable wine country experience, look no further than Vergenoegd Löw The Wine Estate. And who knows, you may even make some feathered friends...
