Springside Nature Reserve

If you are are in the Hillcrest area and you feel like quickly popping into a little natural pocket, Springside Nature Reserve can scratch that itch. Entrance is free (but, please try to donate via handy Zapper QR codes placed in the parking lot).

The reserve is small, but there are a few trails to enjoy, each with enough variables to suit your particular walking needs. Do you want to enjoy some sun, get some ellevation and a view? Then take the path to left (thus right opposite the car park). Some sun, but less/no inclines, just flat and even ground? Then just follow the path straight past the parking area, braais and rest rooms. If you want some shade and want to see a bit of water you can exit this path to the right, about 200m from the braai and toilets.

The reserve also has a few geocaches, so if you are not a muggle, whip out your GPS or phone and start the hunt!

Overall the reserve is an enjoyable peaceful piece of natural habitat in the middle of the suburbs. However, sometimes other enthusiastic humans, more interested in cooking food and/or celebrating some occasion, might occupy the braai area and share their music with you – all without you even having to ask for some atmospheric sounds.
