Acrobranch Hillcrest — Attraction in eThekwini Ward 8

Very disappointed in Acrobranch Hillcrest. We attended a birthday party at this branch and, as busy as they were, they were greatly understaffed. My sons harness was not put on properly and fell to his knees while he was on the red course at the middle of the "DNA" section. He is 10 and had to hold on till we could get an assistant to get him down safely. They assistant was busy assisting in the middle of the green course and we had to wait in that unsafe and risky situation till he was done. My son and I were terrified! Why on earth does this obstacle course with ziplining not have full over the shoulder harnesses? Why isn't there at least 2 assistants for each course or anyone to safely send of the children on ziplines nor receive them on the other side? While we were there we witnessed another child from a different group go onto the zipline with just the safety hooks and not the 'spongebob' wheel. He then got stuck and needed to be assisted mid air (the zipline above party areas). There was a lady that hit the tree at the end of the same zipline very hard as there are no speed breakers towards the end of any of your ziplines. This was a life or death situation and could have ended very badly if my son was not able to hold on for that long. I know our school had taken our grade 9s to this branch for an outing and they also were not assisted or supervised by trained staff. I will definitely not be visiting any acrobranch in future and will make sure the parents I know are informed aswell. This place is lacking safety standards and poorly managed. Very disappointed with our experience at Acrobranch Hillcrest today. We had confirmed and paid a 50% deposit to secure a booking, and due to bad weather early this morning, we proactively changed our booking time in advance to accommodate the weather clearing up.

However, when we arrived—after traveling quite a distance—we discovered that no staff had shown up for the day, and the venue was completely closed. No one from Acrobranch contacted us to inform us of any cancellations or issues, despite having our contact details and the weather clearly improving.

This lack of communication and consideration is unacceptable, especially when booking deposits are paid upfront. We feel let down and inconvenienced, and we hope this is addressed accordingly, to also prevent others from having a...

It was a fun day out regardless some mannerless young boys who was racing each other through the course negatively affecting our experience by shaking the cables and audibly commenting when they caught up with us and had to wait for us at each station. Staff did not seem as hands on and involved as they were on our previous visits. In a way the majority seemed depressed. Not the vibe you expect when you embark on an outdoor adventure activity meant to take you out of your comfort zone. Felt safe throughout. Other than that a great venue in a beautiful location.
