Glendower Golf Club — Attraction in Ekurhuleni Ward 19

They say that if you play the Glendower Golf course you can play on any golf course. I’m not going to lie, it's a challenge for me being a newbie to the game of golf. I have always wanted to play golf and to be part of a golf club. The one thing that was stopping me from doing so was the absorbent club fee UNTIL I came across the Ladies Membership fees at the Glendower Golf Club. For only R599 per month I can play 4 times a month on any Tuesday or Wednesday. The ladies I play with and who I have met at the GGC have welcomed me with open arms. They are an amazing group of ladies and are alway available for a round of golf. The club captain and one of the oldest members even went out of their way to meet with me just before I started to welcome me to the club. The golf course itself is known to be an exquisitely designed, highly ranked parklands golf course. It’s currently ranked number 4 in South Africa. The fairways are like a picture perfect postcard and are in immaculate condition. They have some amazing bird life to see along the way while enjoying your round of golf. Beautiful golf course but unfortunately this will be my last visit to Glendower. From the get go they made mistakes with our breakfast order and then forgot my order all together. Young manager there stepped in but there was no real attempt in making the situation right. This was then followed by a ball spotter that last two players balls on the first hole. Matters got worse when we said we were swapping him out. This spotter (Joseph) then started telling players how bad they were at the game and was very rude to the one female player. This was brought to management's attention and yet nothing was done. To add insult to injury upon leaving the greensman hunted us down to remind us that the first spotter (Joseph) hadn't been tipped - yet we had paid at reception and even pre-ordered a meal for half way house. We had a group of 16 booking through Flook which had some issues with the tee off times we where given by Pro Shop so our tee off was delayed which caused some frustration amongst the group.

When contacting Golf Director Dwain after the round to explain our experience he immediately set up a meeting at the course to hear our areas of concern. Dwain listened and shared his views, as well as spending some time giving us more insight into the operations at the course. Dwain immediately communicated how he would rectify to avoid this from happening again.

Dwain is very passionate about Glendower and constantly aiming to improve the members and visitors experience being one of the top courses in South Africa.
