Iphithi Nature Reserve — Attraction in eThekwini Ward 10

I've live in Gillitts for.many, many years and, until recently, never knew about Iphithi reserve. While it is small it is very pretty with a lake, a number of paths, lots of trees and well maintained. You can only run some where near 3kms without repeating some of what you have already done but still well worth a visit if you live or are in the area. Access is via a gate that you open via Zapper. A beautiful small reserve. Great spot to find forest birds, flitting about in the indigenous forest. There’s also a pond that attracts some water birds. The trails and infrastructure are maintained by the local Gillitts Conservancy, and you can contribute to their efforts via Zapper payment using the QR code at the gate. There’s a small parking area inside the gate. A small building near the entrance has a lovely deck with a view over some of the forest. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash at all times. A peaceful & tranquil little reserve with plenty of natural flora & fauna to observe. This area is great for hikes or walks (or some careful trailing running - a lot of little roots and squishy patches of mud when it rains) and is hassle free to enter and exit (an introverts dream). Just download Zapper before you arrive to make a payment to get in & out of the front gate (R10 in and R10 to get out).
