Sanctuary Beach in Plettenberg Bay is truly one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I’ve ever visited. From the moment I stepped onto the soft, golden sand, I felt instantly relaxed. The beach is wide and open, giving you plenty of space to enjoy without feeling crowded. I loved the natural surroundings – the dunes, the sea breeze, and the sound of the waves all come together to create a calming atmosphere. What stood out to me the most was how clean and well-kept the beach was. It felt safe, serene, and perfect for long, quiet walks. I especially appreciated that it’s dog-friendly, so if you’re traveling with a pet, it’s ideal. The water was clear and inviting, and although I didn’t swim much, just walking along the shore with the waves at my feet was amazing. There’s something special about the slower pace at Sanctuary Beach. It’s not overly commercial or packed with tourists, which makes it feel more personal and peaceful. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit, breathe, and take in the beauty around you. I left feeling refreshed and already wanting to return. Sanctuary Beach is a hidden gem, and I absolutely loved my time there.

A beach off season has an exceptional appeal ! A warm sunny mid winter July day and we walked for miles - we loved the dog stick sign and that the locals were warm and kind - it surprised us to see just how many beach walkers there were at this time - perhaps Plett is more of an all year round destination after all ! Do go any season of the year - you won’t regret it 🇿🇦

This is a very good beach to go to with lots of white sands, but it's quite windy and rip currents can occur frequently, depending on the time of the day. It was not busy (but it can be busy during peak times) and it has a decent coastline to walk / run. The beach is well maintained with life guards on site. Plettenberg Bay is an upmarket area with some fancy properties facing the ocean and otherwise. The southern beaches of South Africa are windy and waters are colder than beaches in KwaZulu-Natal (south eastern to east of...

This beach is lovely, I only rate it lower than 5 stars because of two reasons: 1) It's very crowded. 2) Why are dogs allowed? One can't relax in peace without every passing dog charging at you with sticks or balls. The beach is littered with dog 'debris' (people aren't using their poop bags!) and barking is not something one wants to hear when trying to relax on a beach... The authorities should look into limiting both the amount and extent to which dogs are allowed. I can't imagine that these dogs are good for marine...
