Skilpad Office, Namaqua National Park — Attraction in Kamiesberg Local Municipality

We have stayed here once before and love the spectacular scenery and isolation. The downside is cellphone signals hard to pick up. There are four of these chalets all identically laid out and we have stayed in three of them on three visits.

If I could have one wish from SANPARKS it would be to consider adding to air fryers to the units!

The roads in the park, especially if you're thinking of driving down to the coast, say Hondeklip Bay or up to Kleinzee, are very corrugated and shaking and jarring of the vehicle can get a bit tiring after a couple of hours of it.

The nearest dorp is Kamieskroon but you don't want to rely on it for groceries although the bottle store is adequate. You really need to bring down food from Springbok.

There are many reviews for the chalets so I won't repeat what others have said except that the reason we like it is that after sunset it's just black, no lights and no sound (yep, not even cicadas!) so if it's clear you'll have a great view of the stars and the sunsets can be pretty spectacular too. I doubt you will be disappointed.
