On 27/12/2019 we visited the Happy Island Water Park. I suppose we in SA don’t have such nearby so this is the only option. Not bad and not great either. Great day out with the family and we didn’t get to do all the slides and rides as there is a great variety. Some of which I didn’t even see in Disney World. Definitely recommended if you enjoy the adrenaline rush! Wave pool was huge and waves are quite high and powerful, so be cautious. Lots to do for the kids as well. So we paid a special rate of R199 for adults and kids under 1.3m paid R99. Food was not bad. Burger and chips was R50, fish and chips R75, chip and dip R40, buddy cold drinks R17, 1.5lt cold drinks R30.

On the negative side, management needs to change certain things. Improve on the marketing and overall appearance of the park. Almost all rides were short of water and possibly due to water restrictions. The lazy river tubes dragged on the floor most places due to low water and people were pushing the tubes along the way. Some rides only started at 11am. Please consider water shoes or socks as the fake grass was extremely hot and burning and the plastic tiles that allows water to flow through was actually cutting the feet. Poor design I suppose.

Overall I would recommend a visit even though it does not meet international standards. The Chinese investors should consider local management and advise to improve and keep people coming back!

I would go back if...

Queue Island. Nice concept, the slides are fun, but unfortunately that is where the positive news stops. Don’t buy tickets online as the online queue is longer than the normal queue. You can expect to queue 1 – 2 hours per slide, the whole day is essentially 1 big queue. Better organization will reduce the queues a lot, the whole setup is disorganized, staff are not trained well and I don’t think they will handle an emergency well. The Typhoon tube ride stopped working because the winch they use to get the tubes to the platform broke down, staff were unsure what to do and the whole process was just unprofessional. The DJ at the wave pool was also an irritation, constantly shouting over the speaker system trying to be funny. Landscaping has not been completed lots of open areas without any plants or grass, also there is not enough grass and seat areas close to the pools. Not sure the local roads were meant for the influx of 1000’s of extra cars to the area. It is essentially still a construction site, you can see garden refuse and building rubble in certain areas in the park and there is a strong sewage smell at some of the bathroom areas. The buildings that are complete does not look good quality and you have to wonder what it will look like after a year. You would expect a better experience for the prices they are charging, and it would be better to go to Sun City even though it is a...

First time I went was fantastic, second time there was to much drunk people amongst the children, people giving booze through the gates/parking lot to people inside the resort. Everyone in the parking lot is walking with alcohol or sit around just drinking there. When you order food the queues are extremely long and when you go back to fetch your food, the drunk people refuse to move so you can collect your food. Taking way to many people to make money but causing injuries. The staff at some of the water slides are extremely rude. The queue for the lockers was so long we decided to take our bags to the car. Outside again everyone is piss drunk and cocky and just wants to fight, obviously to much booze allowed. Some people bring they own food and 6 packs and bottle of booze, while others need to pay inside. This is not a "family" resort this has become an adult resort. This is not save for any children and those that allowed this and think its fine. I hope nothing happens to their children, adults only think of themselves. Sad that a place that use to be good is a mess like this now. All cars and vehicles and transport busses should be check by the boom gate!! One of these days we gonne read about fights that ended up bad or children that got missing or taking advantage of, this is if the parents are actually aware of this and not to drunk. SA is already tuff, but this place...

Edit 2024/01/02 I was nervous to visit based on the number of negative reviews lately. This is still a great place to visit. Lots of food and waterslides to keep the kids busy. It was been 2 years since my last visit. There are some signs of wear and maintenance is definitely needed. Definitely a coat of paint would be in order. The lazy river only got going around 10:00 and is in need of a topup. People were getting stuck. The water in the slides are a little brown but this is understandable considering all the traffic coming through. The beach water is clear. The waves are only scheduled for around 6 waves at 3 times a day. They are inconsistent with who is allowed to bring food in to the park and who isn't. I wasn't allowed to bring any in but there were many families with picnic baskets and coolerboxes The bathrooms are terrible. This needs to be sorrted out. ------------------------ Great day out for the kids. Lots of different slides so there wasn't a lot of waiting in queues. Well worth it. You can bring in your own gazebos, chairs etc. Note:no food or beverages allowed. There are food and drinks vendors within the park. There is a variety of food from Chip 'n dip to braai to fish and chips to burgers. Something for everyone.

Lots of fun. Good rides. Still new so landscaping needs alot of work. Lots of parking. Easy to get to. Staff are friendly and do their best. Control of rides is an issue at times. Lines are long which is normal however with two or more rides using one set of stairs there is definitely room for improvement where communication between controller on ground and lifeguard at top could have radio comminication to assist them with quantity of people get let up at any given time. Entering sadly was a let down. Bought online tickets which gives you the QCODE. But when we arrived this did not work as we expected. We had to queue to get them to scan the QCODE and then issue tickets.... this took 1 hour and thirty minutes. Then we had to queue to get in. Opened at nine we got in at 11. Was very tedious and also their scanners did not work and they only had one. Alot of work to be done to accommodate 1000 plus people moving through that place in a day. Still alot of rides and a beach with wave pool that they can be proud of.
