Dornier Wine Estate — Attraction in Stellenbosch Local Municipality

Awful experience or should I say a lack thereof. My fiancé called whilst we were at a different establishment having a picnic to ask whether we could come to purchase some wine and have it there. Due to the fact that we were given a yes, we then cut our lovely picnic short by 30 mins which we would rather have continued spending there. We were told that we could come provided we arrived at 5. We arrived 3 minutes past 5 due to slower than anticipated traffic. When we got there we saw a lady leaving. We then found out later that this was the manager who had told us we could purchase a bottle of wine to drink there. The establishment closes at 6 on a Sunday which is also noted on Google maps. The young girl who was left at the estate very confidently turned us away because her manager had told her to leave early. We are not unreasonable people who would have overstayed our welcome. We held our wedding here and rented the Homestead for three nights. Coming from abroad we had a lot to do in order to get things set up and prepared. Thankfully Lianndi (The Manager/Coordinator) had stepped in and coordinated with vendors to ensure everything ran smoothly and looked incredible! Although the homestead was older, it was an authentic, relaxing experience with amazing staff who ensured we had everything we needed. A very underrated venue with astounding views for a wedding and incredible scenery for photos. The food was absolutely delicious and did not disappoint. Had some light lunch here today along with a wine tasting with some friends. Absolutely amazing views of the mountains near Stellenbosch. They offer several different wine tasting options and we did the basic version. Wines are good quality and the waiter was very insightful in the wine presentation and ba ground. We also had a cheese platter that was amazing. The call their pizza flat bread and is also recommended. One recommendation from my side is that they offer clean glasses for the new wines.
