We were talking for many years that we wanted to visit the Franshhoek motor meuseum, and so we finally did it, as we passed by (spur of the moment type of thing) due to covid, we had to book tickets online (found that out while we waited by the gate...) After I purchased tickets I wanted to know if we may go through so long to have a coffee and something to eat as we didn't have lunch yet. I was told that we have to go to the wine farm.. ok fair enough.. went there, once we got to the gate, security told me they are full, but at least called to find out. We were checked in. Once we entered the wine tasting center, the lady greeted us friendly, and after we said that we would like to have a coffee and some lunch, she made a comment saying that the meuseum can help us with something sweet, also that the restaurant is full and we can wait in the wine tasting area upstairs.. already both my dad and I started feeling unwelcome. I explained to the lady that we booked tickets for the car meuseum however security had referred us to the wine farm to eat something as we could not go inside. We went upstairs, sat on the couches, two seconds later another waitress came telling us that the couches are reserved. I said we are just having a quick coffee and then we will be on our way. We sat by a small glass table, the waiters (three individuals)didn't even bother to remove wine tasting glasses, we got coldish cappuccinos and no menu to at least offer something to eat. We left with a bitter taste of this supposed to be respectable wine farm where you would expect to receive some service better than what you will receive at a back street takeaway shop. We were very disappointed. We waited in the parking lot for about 45 minutes for our ticket slot. The cars were great and interesting, beautiful and immaculate. Good to view. Our disappointment came again after our walk, at the cafe. At least the coffee and muffin was at a giveaway price of R30. But the people seemed unfriendly, no personality, no music. It was so drab - horrible. I will not visit again. Please make sure to have lunch somewhere else...

A Perfect Start to Our Honeymoon at The Franschhoek Motor Museum!

Our honeymoon began on a high note with a visit to The Franschhoek Motor Museum, and it set the tone for an unforgettable journey. The museum's impeccable upkeep is immediately noticeable, creating a visually stunning atmosphere.

The presentation of the cars is nothing short of artful, showcasing each vehicle with meticulous attention to detail. The staff's friendliness added a welcoming touch, making our experience even more enjoyable.

What truly impressed us was the huge variety of cars on display. The collection is diverse and well-curated, providing a captivating journey through automotive history. The fact that they switch out cars every few months keeps the experience fresh and ensures there's always something new to discover.

Kudos to The Franschhoek Motor Museum for making our visit memorable. Highly recommended for any car enthusiast or anyone looking to kick off a special journey with a touch of...

Our impromptu stop turned into a delightful few hours spent admiring and ogling the cars and enjoying a light meal afterwards. The drive up to the museum is lined by lush plants and, on such a hot day, one just wanted to pull over and be revived in all that shade.

The four 'motor stables' house cars from the early days to more recent models and each car has a short overview which provides some basic information.

The backdrop of mountains, blue sky and green lawns formed a perfect backdrop as we moved from 'stable to stable'.

We ended our visit with a light meal in the verandah. It is refreshing to find a very affordable menu consisting of light sandwhiches, salads and drinks in the wine region. We paired our meal withnthe house wine, but if you want more expensive wines that option is also available at the gift shop.

It is a lovely family outing, but remember to include the +- R80pp entrance fee in...
