Tasting in the Pieter (Bestbier) Cellar with 1 meter thick walls (a former sherry tank) is a treat. In a departure from many other farms, much of the wine at Goede Hoop has been kept for years to present you with offerings that can still age for another 10-15 years, but that are immediately enjoyable and ready to drink. This touch should not be dismissed as most people do not have the proper facilities to cellar wine on their own. From a spicy cinsault in the Blind Faith range to a distinguished 11 year old red blend, Goede Hoop will impress as you're treated to a tasting with a fourth generation winemaker. Fun fact: this is one of the last remaining wine farms to process grapes in open concrete tanks (in what used to be a stable).

What a amazing place. We were there for a cellar dinner and did this place impress. There are wines from 1976 and a briljant selection. The host was fabulous and the knowledge of wines incredible. You get a 4 course meal, the food was delicious, and every couple, only 6 couples can go at a time, can pick a bottle of wine. While you dine in the cellar you get to enjoy this fabulous wines and have a unforgettable dinner. I would recommend everyone to go and experience it. It is unbelievable!!

Just treat yourself and do this at least once (the private cellar evening). Get 10 people together and spend an evening with the winemakers. You will probably leave there thinking you know nothing about wine anymore. One of the most unique wine tastings I've ever had. Want to do this again.

An absolutely divine experience! We visited for a friend's birthday celebration and partook in the private cellar experience - 6 couples could choose a bottle of wine for the table to taste (we chose a 1988 vintage rouge - wow!!) and there were 4 courses of food to enjoy in an intimate and beautiful setting. The hosts were knowledgeable and fun, it was a privilege to share the evening with them and learn about wine. This is a must do! Don't wait,...
