If you are a lover of Pinotage then the L'Avenir Wine Estate is a definite must-visit. We visited for International Pinotage Day and enjoyed everything we tasted. The Pinotage Brut was a particular standout, offering a refreshing and bubbly twist on this classic South African grape. We started off with a wine tasting where we tasted different cultivars as well as different styles of Pinotage. Our waiter, Darren, was also very friendly and knowledgeable only adding to the entire experience. After tasting their wines, we decided to grab a bottle of Pinotage paired with a delicious cheese and charcuterie platter, while we enjoyed our surroundings. The estate itself is beautiful, with ample seating options including indoor and outdoor. We opted for a table on the lawn, enjoying the stunning views of the dam and vineyards. While there isn't a dedicated play area for the kids, the spacious lawn provided plenty of room for them to run around and explore, and the roaming roosters and ducks kept them thoroughly entertained. As an added bonus, if you enjoy some outdoor activity, there are boules available to play while sipping on your wine as well. If you're searching for great Pinotage and a tasty wine-tasting experience, the L'Avenir Wine Estate is a must-visit...
Read moreToday was the perfect day. Out of season, not many guests, bright blue sky, no wind, 25° and a service full of dedication. No matter who came to serve us at the table, sometimes it was a woman, sometimes a man and even then someone else. We had decided not to have breakfast today, but to go to the wine farm to either have lunch or get a professional wine tasting. We have already done many wine tastings, not only in South Africa, but also in the Napa Valley in Sonoma Valley or in Chile in the Central Valley. Or simply here in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany.
This decision today was brilliant. I have rarely had such a good cheese platter. The meats were also excellent and the French Nuke trout was indescribably good.
I can't say it often enough how great the service was, the quality of the food and the atmosphere there. Of course it was best because we were almost alone, but I don't want to fail to emphasise, albeit several times, how great the service of the people and the food was - thank...
Read moreI came here with my partner for a peaceful, relaxed few days at the end of our holiday. Unfortunately, however, the vinyard decided to host a pop up cinema event at the same time as our stay, with 100s in attendance, a little over 10m from the rooms terrace. This did not end until 11pm with dance music blaring. This shows that the hotel thinks little of its guests and is more interested in profits from the pop up cinema. Other than that, the rooms are OK but need updating, especially the bathrooms, and the pool is dirty and unusable. The staff were great, but hard to get hold of, and the breakfast was homemade, simple and delicious. This, however, would not make me want to stay here again, and I'd advise others to stay elsewhere. The WIFI is also...
