On the 29 January 2025, it was our granddaughter’s 29th birthday. We made the booking on Monday, 27 January 2025, for a table of 6 pax for 17:30 on 29 January, at Peter Falke Wines. We arrived at the gate of Peter Falke at 17:25 & found the gate closed. It is a solid gate so you don’t know what is going on behind it. No bell to press for entry so I called the Winery on the contact number found on Google (press one for winery 😊). No one answered. I phoned again and the phone went dead after a few rings. I phoned again and after a few rings, someone answered. I asked whether the gate can be opened and I was told that they were closed. I mentioned that we had a booking. I was then told that they will come to open the gate for us. On arriving at the venue, it was clear that they were busy packing up & covering the couches outside. When asked what time they will be closing, they said 19:00. We asked where our booked table was & was told to walk towards the grass area and find a table. We have never felt so unwelcome at any establishment!!! We decided to have some wine as we were still waiting for our granddaughter to arrive. I mentioned that to the waiter so that they will be ready to open the gate when they arrive. Needless to say, this did not happen. They had to phone us from outside the gate in order for us to ask someone to open the gate for them! We were told that there was no Sauvignon Blanc wine so we opted for Blanc de Noir. The waiter then told us that the kitchen was in fact closed as the person who needed to order stock, did not do so the previous day! We finished our wine, paid the bill and left. Getting to the gate, we were four cars trying to get out. I phoned the venue 2x, no one answered. Our granddaughter had to walk around to find someone to open the gate in order for us all to be able to get out. I must admit we had some lovely times at Peter Falke Wine Estate before, although a long time ago. Unfortunately yesterday the whole garden as well as the furniture looked a bit tatty and unkept. Together with the overall experience of lack of service and lack of any kind of hospitality, we will...
Read moreDear Peter Falke Team, I wrote you an email with my feedback three weeks ago but you never cared to reply. That's why I will post it publicly now.
Dear Peter Falke Team,
unfortunately we had a really bad experience at your winery. I am not a fan of writing bad feedback on Google/ in pubic, so I wanted to write you an email so you can act on it. Knowing that Peter Falke aims for excellence, I think it's important to know that our visit was bad on many accounts. Especially comparing with other wineries like Rust en Vrede, Ernie Ells, Boschendal, Beau Constancia etc.
We were a group of 5 people and came for an afternoon wine tasting on the 1st of February. Here is everything that went wrong: While I must say that the main waitress was very friendly and put a lot of effort, it was apparent that all other people in the team were not well trained and did not put in a lot of effort We ordered water - it never arrived We ordered two cappucinos - only one arrived The pace of the service was very slow - the couple on the table next to us also complained because it took ages for them to get food We did the wine tasting: after finishing the white wine, the waiter (young guy) poured the red wine in the same glasses as the white wine before, some of them even still had some white wine in them. It's the most basic rule in wine tasting that either you clear out the glasses with water before pouring a new wine or you serve new classes There was a big dead fly in my wine glass that I had in my mouth as I did not see it. It must have been dead in the wine bottle for a while as our glasses were empty before pouring it in and I tried the wine right after so the fly did not land in glass after the wine was poured (see the picture below We had to wait a long time to get our bill, in the end we just got up and paid inside at the counter as it took to long
Long story short, the experience we had was very horrible, especially compared to the other professional wineries.

Read moreI have been to this wine estate 3 times, the first two times I could not tell enough people about it. It was so good. Ons women's day this year (3 days ago) I took a friend whose never been. What a deep disappointment. Both previous times I walked away with at least a box of wine and the platters were amazing. On Tuesday we tasted the 5 red wines and ordered a platter (R295) with meat and cheese. We received 2 tiny pieces of cheese, 6 thin slices of meat, half a plate of bread, fruit, very sour strawberries, oranges, kiwi fruit ( the kiwi was edible) and a stack of grapes. We tasted the 5 wines but did not get the order form to make notes in case we wanted to buy at all. The bill came and we were charged an additional amount for a flagship glass, we are still trying to figure out what that was?? We paid and left, had no option to buy wines, waited forever fot the waiter to pour the next wine, so still had no idea what went with what, really and had no option to buy. We both wanted to buy at least 2 of the wines we tasted. What a disappointing women's day and just overall experience. To everyone, I kept on telling them to visit this great place, sorry. If this is what you encounter, so very sorry. I know of better value and service estates to visit. My next referrals will for sure be more affordable and better quality food. We ate the meat, 2 tiny pieces of cheese 4 of slices of bread and kiwis. The rest went back. I will gladly send a photo of the food and the bill, and then of another estate food for way less, but much better quality. See the meat and cheese platter in the picture, this is a fruit and bread platter with a touch of meat and cheese. Look at the tiny piece of camembert. Very disappointing if you drag someone to a place and this is what you get. I could have bought all of them at woollies for less and bought some good wines. The wine tasting clearly was not to...
