How does someone even rate a hike.... How does nature not deserve 5 stars every time...?! Anyhoo, we did this hike. Be warned, it will be tough for a novice, and has intermediate technicality, occasionally needing hands for support up, - and a lot if you go down the mountain on Noordhoek side. I wore shorts, and frequently got my legs 'prickled'. Use it, don't use it. Don't try go down the mountain on the Noordhoek side unless you are bold. The trail is less-trodden. We lost it twice coming down. Some narrow paths with distinct vertigo calling ;-). My health app clocked q 450m ascent, and 12,000 steps from the base, over the mountain, and to the road on Noordhoek side. The path comes out practically at the step-path that leads down to Monkey Valley resort. Take water and a light jacket.

This is one of my favourite hikes in the area as it offers spectacular views of Noordhoek Beach and Houtb Bay - the beautiful fynbos on the trial is an added bonus. It's moderately difficult - 5km return and around 450m ascent - with a well marked path, and a steep scramble to get to the top. There is not much shade, so I recommend going early morning or late afternoon. Definitely recommended.

The trail is spectacular. It is particularly difficult at the start and the past few meters. It’s definitely worth the effort. Remember to take a jacket and the sunset hike is unreal. Panoramic views of False Bay and Hout Bay make it one of the best Look outs I’ve ever been to. The trail is clean and clear and highly recommended!

A great place to start or end a hike. This path leads up or comes back from the top of Chapman's Peak itself. It's about 500m in elevation and takes around 1.5-2 hours. A bit of a bushy path, but pretty easy to follow. You can return via the same route or go over the top and down the other side. That route comes out at the check point near the toll gates of...
