Dear Rondebosch Golf Club,

I am writing to bring to your attention an issue regarding the rates a fellow golfer(cc'd) AND I was charged during my recent visit to your golf club (01 May 2024). As reciprocal members of another golf club, I was under the impression that we would be eligible for reciprocity rates when playing 9 holes at your course.

However, upon reviewing my receipt, I noticed that we were actually charged the higher visitor rates(R370) instead of the expected reciprocity rates(R225). Added to this we booked a round for 16:56 and only tee'd off ~40min later due to a massive backlog in the field. We only managed to play 8 holes before light became an issue. This discrepancy and delay has left me feeling disappointed and I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and rectify it.

I trust that this was simply an oversight and that the necessary adjustments can be made promptly. I have always enjoyed playing at Rondebosch Golf Club and I hope that we can resolve this issue amicably.

Find attached HNA handicaps card and screenshot of bank receipt

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

Emailed this on the 7th May 2024 STILL...

A One-Time Visit

Today marked my first and, likely, last round at Rondebosch Golf Club in Cape Town. Despite its well-maintained greens and fairways, echoing a rich history, the club's charm is somewhat diminished by its aging clubhouse, especially the locker rooms in dire need of an update.

The serene silence one seeks on a golf course was shattered by constant noise from surrounding roads. Worse yet was the foul smell emanating from the adjacent polluted river, a scent that unfortunately permeated the course due to the use of its water for irrigation. This significantly marred the experience, making it less than enjoyable.

On a brighter note, the staff and members were exceptionally welcoming, providing a silver lining to the visit.

In Summary:

The Rondebosch Golf Club offers historic allure and friendly faces but is severely let down by noise pollution and an unpleasant odor. It's a place with potential that urgently requires environmental and facility upgrades to make it a desirable...

Had a great round, perfect weather. The greens are rolling very true, and everything was very green for the time of year and amount of rain we've had. So well done to the green keepers. Halfway house has some solid options (halaal friendly). All staff are really friendly. The course has undulations, but is very comfortably walkable for those who prefer walking. Shot my lowest score in a while, which I feel is due to the fact that the course is not as challenging as it could be. The other factor contributing to the lost star is the fact that there were multiple unrepaired pitch marks on almost every green. This really affected putting, and speed of gameplay. Great day out nonetheless, with a great group of people. Even the regulars I met on the day were...
