Maynardville Park is a delightful, if somewhat underutilised park in the centre of an urban area.

It's much bigger than you would initially believe and there are many spots to sit and relax, whether you prefer the sun or shade.

As you would expect, there are places for kids to play and ponds with plenty of bird life throughout the park.

While it feels safe because of multiple security personnel, the park itself felt underutilised with only a few people enjoying the park on a weekend day.

Bathrooms are clean and generally neat though some water had spilt on the floor in one bathroom.

Parking around the park is limited, but you can park at the Wynberg Library and do a short walk to the gate.

The park also hosts the Maynardville Open Air Theatre which, it seems, has been doing Shakespeare for years and years.

What a treat.

Attended the Southern Mail Family festival held at Maynardville Park. The event was well organized with adequate security. It was well supported imo at the time we visited. The line up of local artist was good and entertaining. The grounds are well maintained and there were lots of support service to ensure that the grounds remain litter free and plenty of bins were provided. Felt the food offerings were good but pricey. Especially liquids with a small coke selling for R20. All and all a wonderful afternoon. The rides were well supported too but here I feel the costs were also high but this did not stop the crowds. Managed to do the Mexican Hat on the insistence of. My husband and I am glad to report my organs have all re-aligned. I will definitely support the...

Maynardville park is a a total disaster, went there as a senior group to enjoy a social get together and to enjoy nature and a spring day but was pretty much disappointed, the park is dirty around the tables which we had to cleanup first before we could sit down, and most importantly the toilets were locked and we couldn't use it, and as senior's ablution is important, I enquired about some management to discuss the issue at hand and were shown to a building, went there, knocked but no one came out and there was light inside and a vehicle was parked which was still warm, very disgusting that us senior's should be treated like that, it's totally appalling and we as taxpayers will definitely not go...

Wynberg Park is a beautiful and tranquil green space nestled in the southern suburbs of Cape Town. Wynberg Park offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, with wide open lawns, beautiful trees, and a charming duck pond that adds to its calm, natural atmosphere. The environment is clean and well-maintained, with plenty of shaded areas perfect for picnics, family gatherings, or simply relaxing with a book. We love coming to the park after our trip from Wynberg library. Story time, together with a picnic, is simply the best! We love spending afternoons after school playing and enjoy time out at the park. The play area is an absolute gem for the kids.

It’s not that bad but not that good either. This was tricky for me to settle on when it comes to a star rating. It’s free and there’s a wonderful playground and a few ponds. But the variety of trees and plants are limited. The park is big but I did see a dead duck and when my boyfriend told the cleaning staff about it the guy just shrugged and said it’s not my problem. The grass isn’t cut and there’s dirt laying around. I wouldn’t go back. There’s better maintained free parks in Cape Town like Green Point Park for example. I made the most of it and smiled. If you’re in the area it’s fine to go just don’t make extra effort to get there.
