I misunderstood the description of this site when I looked it up. I can't add any better pictures than everyone else did. I arrived around 1300 (1 pm), and there were so many people! Wow! The line for the train that takes you to various locations was probably about a 20-25 minute wait. Today was particularly humid and warm, so it made it a tough day.
As I said, I misunderstood the description of this place and didn't know there was so much hiking involved. I love hiking, but I wasn't dressed for it and it made for a miserable 6-7 km hike. I stopped at the observatory, but there was easily many more km to hike if you have the energy. Much of it was at a 6% grade, which my good friend humidity stuck with me the entire way just to make sure I was a nice sweaty mess by the time I reached the observatory. The observatory was an oasis as it has coffee shops, gift shops, and places to sit on the second floor with a nice view of the ocean. The hike is right along the ocean, but the view is obscured by thick forest only allowing you to get a peek unless you want to log additional steps to get to a view point.
My advice: do this one very early in the morning or late winter when hopefully the weather is cooler and not so much yellow dust in...
Read moreTaejongdae Observatory is a scenic spot overlooking the ocean in Busan, South Korea. It's located on the eastern tip of Yeongdo Island and offers stunning views of the coastline, especially on a clear day.
I visited Taejongdae Observatory on Boxing Day, and while there were no train rides operating, the quiet weather made for a pleasant walk. The loop trail is about 4 km long and can be quite hilly, so it's not suitable for those with strollers or young children.
However, if the Danubi Train is operating, it would be a great way to explore the park without having to do all the walking. The train takes you to some of the best viewpoints in the park, including the Observatory Deck and Yeongdo Lighthouse.
Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Taejongdae Observatory. It's a beautiful place with stunning views, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone...
Read moreOne of the main thing we wanted to do in Busan was to visit the Taejongdae Observation Deck. We got up there with the small train (pricing adult 4000 KRW and kid 1500 KRW- Feb 2025) , which was more convenient since we had 2 kids. As you enter the observation deck/building, you will find a small cafe (we did not go there) and as you continue walking, you can see the ocean. It was a beautiful day and the view was amazing. To enjoy the view in a more cosy place and relax with our kids, we made our way to the first floor, where there is a Cafe and Bakery- Blue Bean Bakery. The wife and the kids really enjoy the place and the view. Great place to relax plus for conscious parents, the place also has toilets on the...
