๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ via KTX (metro) from myeongdong, we took 2.5 hours to 3 hours to get there due to the train waiting time (changed about 2 trains and the wait can be 20mins for each). Apparently, thereโs an ITX train which shortens the journey by an hour but it has to be booked in advance and the ticket is more expensive (like a mini ktx). Metro was ~SGD2.
๐๏ธ ๐ง๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด It is advisable to secure tickets via @klooksg before hand (also discounted as compared to buying at the rail park). They run hourly slots but they do sell out.
Buffer time to redeem the klook ticket at the counter. If you are late and they are not able to accommodate, you will need to rebuy the tickets. If the 2pax rider (SGD33 via Klook) is sold out, they can sell you the 4pax ride but it is much more expensive (SGD50).
๐ข ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ The ride itself is about 30mins, some parts are downhill so minimal effort. Goes pass some scenic spots and they decorated the various tunnels with themes, quite pretty!
After we ended, we waited at the photo spot for about 15 - 20 mins before another train comes to pick us and it took 20mins to the next metro station. There, we can choose to head off or take the free shuttle bus back to Gimyujeong station.
๐They run hourly timeslots and the last timing is 5.30pm. However, during autumn/winter, the sky gets dark at 5.30pm so views might be limited.
This area (Chuncheon-si) is slightly cooler than Seoul and they are famous for Dakgalbi (stir fry chicken).
๐: Gimyujeong Station (5 mins walk, exit station can see the Rail Park on your right) ๐ต: $$
overall, abit far to travel to just for the rail bike, might want to bundle with Nami Island? IG:...
ย ย ย Read moreOne of the best rail bike experiences in Korea. We went to Gapyeong Nami Island first and took the subway to reach there.
It's a walking distance from the subway station. There are few restaurants and cafes around the station.
We reached around 5.15 pm on Saturday but it was hot so booked tickets for 6.30 pm slot there are tour slots at every 1hr. Last tour is 6.30 pm in summer and 5.30 pm during winters. After tickets you can rest or take snacks in the cafe.
The ride is very good.
It's divided into 2 parts
The first ride lasts around 30 min as there were not too many people. The ride goes down a lush green mountain and paddy field. It also passes through 4 tunnels. We enjoyed a lot as we had to peddle but there were steep downslopes so you don't need to padel much.
Second part is the train ride which is a great slow ride through the mountains. It was about sunset so the weather was perfect. It last around 20 minutes.
Then we took a shuttle bus and it left us back to the starting point and this concludes the ride.
Additional points: Price 40000 won (twin seat bike) & 55000Wom (4 seat bike). toilets present in the campus and the service area. The subway train is not frequent like normal subway in Seoul so check timings on kakao or naver maps.

ย ย ย Read moreI had read about the rail park bike ride and was very keen on the idea of biking on a set of rail tracks. This did take some convincing as my friends were neither fans of exercise nor the cold (some websites will mention how you will "die" from the cold in the winter). Even so, we enjoyed the experience of being able to pedal our way though the scenery. Because we joined a tour, we did not get the VR package which supposedly comes with some heads up display. As a result, each pass through a tunnel led us to believe that we were getting a budget version where we got half the effects (which was true but we hadn't realised it at this point).
One word of caution I would issue is how the final tunnel's lights were quite intense. I am surprised that there were no warnings issued concerning potential triggering epileptic seizures in those prone to these kinds of attacks. While I do not suffer from epilepsy, I was still inclined to cover my eyes and pedal quickly to get out of there.
I believe that if you dress warmly for a winter trip (gloves are a must!), you will be fine. The final part of the trip involves riding on a train to a station. During this part, we saw a stream down the mountainside completely frozen to emphasise how...
