Visiting the iconic BTS beach in Gangwon Province was an unforgettable experience. This is the very spot where the globally loved K-pop group BTS filmed one of their music videos, capturing the beauty and serenity of the Korean coastline. The place has since transformed into a meaningful destination for ARMYs around the world.
One of the most touching tributes is the row of purple benches set up by fans — a symbol of BTS’s message of love and connection, especially the phrase “I Purple You” coined by member V. These benches don’t just offer a place to rest; they carry emotions, memories, and the spirit of millions who found strength in BTS’s music.
Surrounded by soft waves, clean shores, and fresh ocean air, the beach is more than a scenic destination — it’s a pilgrimage site for fans and a celebration of unity between BTS and their admirers. Whether you’re a devoted ARMY or a traveler seeking tranquil beauty, this beach in Gangwon is a must-visit.

Read moreIf you’re a BTS fan, visiting the iconic bus stop at Jumunjin Beach is a must! All ARMY should make the trip and take as many photos as possible—it’s such a surreal experience to be in the same spot from the You Never Walk Alone album cover.
I highly recommend booking an Airbnb in Gangneung near the Gangneung Station. It gives you easy access to public transportation and plenty of great restaurants. To get to the beach, just hop on bus 300-2—it’s a scenic ride and Jumunjin Beach is the very last stop on the route.
Spend the whole day at the beach taking pictures, relaxing by the water, and soaking in the beautiful ocean view. Be sure to bring some snacks and a towel or mat so you can sit and enjoy the peaceful vibe. There are some adorable cafes along the coast, perfect for a coffee break. Restaurants in the area are limited, so it’s smart to bring your own snacks. There’s also one convenience store nearby if you need anything last minute.

Fast forward to April 2023 and with BTS' fame, things are easier and more convenient to get that picture perfect shot to commemorate my BTSxArmy pilgrimage. As with most BTS-related spots, there was a bit of a queue to get a photo, but it moved pretty quickly.
To get here from Gangneung KTX station, go to the tourist information center to rent a tourist taxi for three hours and a fixed price. You can also include other stops like the local market, coffee street, the Goblin shooting spot, among others. If you need more than three hours, you can also top up with an...
