This summit is a must-see if you're not too lazy or fat to get up a few hundred meters. And even if you are you'll be glad to have done the ascension.

The views there are a thousand times better than what you can imagine from the pictures.

There are a few paths, moderate and hard ones. The larger parts of them are no conventional pathways with climbing up smaller and medium sized stones, but most of the times you'll find steel ropes as handrails. There are a few stairs in between and beautiful views even during the hike. Make sure you'll put enough sunscreen on before going up.

The last hundred meters are nothing for people having dramatic fear of heights although I haven't heard about any accidents with people falling down recently due to the high number of tourists and handrails there.

The top is amazing and it gets even better if you got a drone with you. I created some amazing shots and you'll fell extraordinarily rewarded for the whole...

A hike to the Baegundae summit at Bukhansan should be on every traveller's bucket list. It's not the easiest of climbs, but you also don't need to be an athlete to climb it. Due to it's popularity, there are signages and trails to follow as you make your way up. The locals who climb it are also generally friendly and will guide you if you are unsure of the path. The only part that gets scary is near the peak, where you have to pull yourself up on rocks whilst holding on to a steel cable. Good, sturdy shoes with good grip are strongly recommended for this reason. It takes around 2-3 hours to reach the peak, and another 1.5-2 hours to come down depending on the route you take. However, it is well-worth the experience. Bring some hot tea and snacks to eat at the peak; it is truly worth it. Just be careful of your belongings while you're at the top! I saw someone nearly lose her phone because she dropped it and it slid down the rock we...

The trail leading to Baegundae Peak (the highest point in Bukhansan National Park) can be demanding, with steep inclines and rocky paths, so it's perfect for those seeking an adventure and a physical challenge. As you make your way up, you'll appreciate the well-marked trails and safety measures like ropes and handrails in tougher sections.

Reaching the summit is truly rewarding. The panoramic views from the top are stunning, offering a bird's-eye view of Seoul, the Han River, and the lush surrounding landscapes. On clear days, the vistas stretch far and wide, allowing you to take in the beauty of the region.

The trails also feature rest areas where you can pause to catch your breath and take in the scenery. Keep an eye out for cultural sites such as Buddhist temples and shrines, which add a touch of history and spirituality to your hike. These moments can offer a peaceful break from the...

We went on a weekday, so there were fewer people. We took the difficult route first—lots of rocks and some steep climbs. On the way down, we wanted to take the easy route but chose the wrong one. We ended up heading toward the East Gate and descended via the Sogicheon Park Guard Post. This route turned out to be even more difficult than the path we went up. There were lots of loose rocks, and at certain points we had to cross the river to continue on the path. You need to be very careful. The good thing is, you’ll have the chance to wash up at the river—I even saw one experienced local doing so. If you plan to take this route, I recommend bringing a walking stick (suitable for experienced trekkers only). The locals often use walking sticks, and they move very quickly with them. A stick provides good support and makes the hike much safer.
