I came here when it is entering winter season in mid Nov23. The temperature is subzero where all the small streams and rivers is frozen into ice. Sometimes this ice appears on rock surface and it is extremely slippery and dangerous if u r not wearing spiked shoes.
It abt 4 hrs to reach the Baegundae peak from Jeongneung entrance. Most of the trails r rocky staircase but the last 200 meter is all rocks climbing. U nd gloves to pull the metal chain to climb the rocks. If without gloves, ur hand is not able to withstand the subzero temperature. Well, the scene at the peak is amazing and worth the climb.

ย ย ย Read moreGreat hike up. Takes 4 to 5 hours taking the "Expert" route up and the easier route down. Expert route tend to get slippery along the way up. So best to have proper hiking shoes, or a non-slippery one.
I suggest starting from West of the mountain, from the Bus Stop at Bukhansan Fortress entrance, instead of entering from the East, as the way up of the latter from the main road to the entrance is very long with steep and constant upslope! Would burn off your energy way before you even start your hike!

There are different paths to Baegundae Peak. + There is a fairly easy way one is intermediate/advanced And there is an expert route which leads to Uisangbong Peak first and then to Baegundae Peak
I took the intermediate/advanced route. It is a demanding exercise for sure... Nevertheless it was absolutely worth it. Amazing views and you will find a beautiful scenery...
