We paid 2000KRW for parking fee (depending on car size) at the ticketing office, and 1000KRW per person for entrance fee. As far as fees go, this is ridiculously cheap for the quality and maintenance of the forest trails. There are about 11km worth of trails altogether. The most pleasant being the boardwalk on your right at the main entrance. That leads into a large clearing of deck chairs and benches among cedar trees. In fact there will be a sprinkling of deck chairs and benches along the main trails for rest and contemplation. The larger paths are lined with stone and compressed fiber that looks like jute. The smaller trails goes in between the trees and they are lined with compressed fiber around 2 feet in width. This path design makes it very discreet and blends seamlessly into the forest but it makes walking safe for even kids. Short colored ribbons are tied on branches here and there to mark these trails just to make sure that you are going in the right direction. So overall there are 3 kinds of walking experiences - on the boardwalk, large path with stone and fiber, or in between trees with fiber lined paths. Walking shoes or sneakers is a compulsory here. I read later that reservation is necessary for entry however we parked and bought tickets without reservation. Toilets are available along the big path. It is extremely clean. The cedar trees are beautiful and they smell fragrant. Flora and fauna is abundant here. There are wild boars - we did not encounter them but there are caution signs posted everywhere. We encountered a shy deer and noted a very determined woodpecker constructing its home. We spent a good 4 hours here in...
Read moreI couldn't make a payment online but got my hotel to call up the office to check if I could still go and purchase ticket online. Outside the forest of healing, there is free parking along the roadside. If there's no free parking, you can head inside to park.
Ticket is 1000won for adults, and there are other tier pricing for locals, elderly and children.
I went in at 10am and left around 1.30pm (I marked the route I took) and I took a pretty slow walk. I would think setting aside 4h or even more will be perfect.
It's a lovely and well-maintained forest trail with the option to peak at Sioreum for hallasan view Bring along a small bottle to fill the water from healing fountain beside healing center for a quick refreshment before heading on
My favourite is definitely breathing in the smell of the hinoki cypress tress 😍 And the toilet there is really clean.
Remember to wear proper shoes or hiking boots!
Hope the forest will still be the same the next...
Read moreThe boardwalks were therapeutic as you're fully immersed in nature for a good forest bath. believe that it's also designed with the disabled/ elderly in mind as they were wheelchair accessible and wide.
However, if you're not fluent in Korean navigating between the different routes based on the map and checkpoints alone can be a challenge (and not as healing). Healing Center is basically a quiet space to sit down and and reflect on your life choices and does not sell any food/souvenir/drinks.
The additional route to the summit (once you reach the healing center) took us another 1 hr so do be mentally prepared for it and make an informed decision once you reach the coveted...
