Donkey and I were on a cycling adventure along the Jeju Fantasy Bike Path when we decided to take a detour to Seopjikoji Beach. We'd heard so much about this stunning coastline, and we weren't disappointed! The unique landscape with the red volcanic ash, strange rock formations, and the iconic Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak in the background is truly breathtaking. It was like stepping into a movie set, and we could easily see why this place has been featured in so many films and dramas.
We stopped for a quick photoshoot to capture the dramatic views and admire the unusual rock formations. It's a photographer's paradise. The red scoria adds such a unique element to the landscape, and the way the light plays off the rocks is mesmerizing. We didn't have much time, but we still enjoyed the scenic views and the unique atmosphere of the beach.
If you're looking for a beautiful coastal landscape with dramatic views, Seopjikoji Beach is a must-visit, even if you just have a short time to spare. It's a place that will stay with you long after...

Its relative seclusion, likely due to the lack of public transport, makes this coastal walk a peaceful alternative to the bustling Seongsan Illchubong. Allocate at least 1.5 hours and apply sunscreen for this mostly flat, well-maintained trail, where you'll witness a landscape sculpted by time and volcanic fire.
Key features include: Red Volcanic Ash & Unique Rock Formations: The coastline's defining characteristics. All In Candy House (올인하우스): a relic of a bygone era, now a poignant reminder of impermanence. Seondolbawi Rock Formation: Striking, jagged rock formations along the coast. Bangdupo Lighthouse (방두포등대): A steep climb, but the most popular spot, expect crowds here. Jeju Glass House: A modern architectural highlight, creating a striking contrast to the rugged landscape. Seopjikoji Grand Swing: An Insta-famous photogenic location with a view of Seongsan Illchubong. The Hyeopja Yeondae Smoke-Signal Station: A historical signal station, silently guarding the coast since Joseon Dynasty.
While the parking lot provides essential facilities, be aware that public transport doesn't reach this hidden gem. Plan your journey accordingly, and prepare to be captivated by Seopjikoji's...

Stay away from the snack stands near the entrance! If you are a foreigner, whether you speak a different language or you speak Korean but don’t look like one, be warned about the snack stands. They will jack up the price just because of that! I was visiting with my Canadian friend when he wanted to buy some grilled octopus. So we came to a grilling stand right next to the entrance where I was told the price was 13000KRW for one big piece. We didn’t buy any cause they only accept cash and I don’t have enough but my cards with me. As we were walking around, we came across another grilling stand which sells small cups of grilled octopus. As I was approaching the stand, a local Korean young student asked the owner how much was it for one cup, “3000KRW” was exactly what I heard! But as soon as I asked the same thing, the price came out as “10000KRW”. “10000KRW for one cup, 13000KRW for a big piece”, added by the owner. I was shocked and told the owner in Korean how dishonest and unbelievable it was with her business practice! We walked away as one Korean old men who witnessed the entire thing, laughing.
View is nice! But these...
