Geungnakbojeon Hall of Sinheungsa Temple is a 3 kan* by 3 kan structure with a hip-and-gable roof and heavily bracketed eaves. It served as a temple where prayers were offered for the repose of deceased members of the royal family in Yeongdong Province. It exhibits significant differences from its counterparts in terms of its overall structure and form– particularly its exterior designs, bracket system, platform, stairs, and doors and windows. Notably, the ornamental peony and lion motifs engraved on the base platform and the Sam-Taegeuk forms and dragon heads on the balusters of the stairs are rarely seen in other temple buildings. It is breathtakingly beautiful. Take the cable car up to a great vantahpoint from which you can get an arial view of the national gem. You can also pay your respects at the base of an enormous Buddha and visit an ancient temple. There are lots if hiked into the mountains, but we only had a couple of hours to explore. You could spend a few days in this park. We only got to scratch the surface of what it had to offer. The gardens are spectacular and beautifully maintained. It was beyond anything we expected and so very special — we were given the opportunity to join prayers at night and at dawn with the monks. We stayed in a beautiful temple building with a super warm and cosy room. Excellent way to relax and de-stress, surrounded by nature.
