Museo Arqueolóxico Monte Santa Trega (MASAT) — Attraction in A Guarda

I hiked up to this from the port facing Portugal (across the river), and I recommend doing that to get there.

The museum itself is small, and the displays mostly talk about the project to restore the ruin, or have very generic information, but they have an interesting collection that isn't a bunch of reproductions, which is very cool.

Displays seem to be in Spain Spanish and Mexican Spanish only. I speak Mexican Spanish, so...

El museo fue creado por la Sociedad Pro-Monte en el año 1917, ocupando en un principio unos locales en la villa de A Guarda hasta que en 1953 fue trasladado al actual edificio en el propio castro, en la cumbre del monte de Santa Trega, que le da el nombre a ambos.

En lo referente a la datación del castro hay bastante consenso en situarlo entre el siglo I la.C. y el I d.C., por lo menos la época de mayor apogeo del asentamiento. Esta es la cronología de la mayor parte de las piezas que se exponen en el museo, aunque a lo largo de las diferentes campañas de excavaciones en el castro y en el contorno del monte se encontraron piezas de otras épocas: paleolítico, neolítico y edad de bronce, que también se exponen en el museo, y que parecen indicar que esta zona en la desembocadura del Miño ya tenía habitantes desde épocas...
