Faro de Arinaga — Attraction in Agüimes

Dreadful lunch. I wanted something light and there was very little available so I settled for avocado and prawns which can’t normally go wrong especially since everything else I’ve eaten on the island in the last three weeks has been very good. The prawns were warm, chewy and I assumed rapidly warmed in a microwave then covered in a horrible sauce. There was one tiny cherry tomato and two outside lettuce leaves. I are three prawns before I began to wonder if they were warm because of sitting in the sun. The avocado was also warm and covered with the horrible sauce. The meal was left almost untouched but the waitress who took my plate didn’t say a word. I asked the man drinking coffee on the next coffee if he’d eaten there and he said he wouldn’t - he only came for the view. Yes I should have complained but my Spanish isn’t up to it and the small amount I ate had left me...

We walked up from Arinaga and it was a good walk along the promenade then up the rocky dune area past where the natural bathing pools are. Make sure you got sensible footwear. The views are worth the climb which is a little steep at times. Their is a restaurant/cafe for refreshments by the lighthouse. Vista stupenda, faro stupendo, tira quasi sempre vento, ma c'è una spettacolare vista panoramica. Ci si può tranquillamente arrivare in macchina, oppure a piedi, è pieno di sentieri da percorrere nella natura con vista mare. Volendo c'è anche un ristorante dove si può mangiare del buon pesce fresco e un buon vino. Caminando si può arrivare ad una spiaggia vicina, playa del cabron acqua azzurra e arena finissima. È una zona naturale, il mare è pieno di pesci ed altro. Avendo fortuna si può incontrare anche la tortuga 🐢 marina.
