It is said that sometimes the journey is even more beautiful than the destination... Castel d'Alaró is a nice place where you can rest after the long trip here, have a cold drink, and replenish your energy with a chocolate bar, some others had meals, but I didn't need one, but Sr. Nacho was very kind and helpful in providing the information I requested about the path to the Cave of St. Antoni... But I'm getting ahead of myself... The journey started not far from Hotel d'Orient, and as soon as I stepped over the threshold that led to the road up the mountain, I encountered the first guardians of this realm... the local Ents... Do you know the Ents? ( Lord of the Rings?) Yes, the Guardians and Tree Sheppards of the forests, that played an important role against the evil in J.R.R. Tolkien's stories, and they still act herw as the herders of the local forests. I was so happy to take some pictures of some of them, and some of them even gave me signs they they are observing me as well. If you look at the pictures below, perhaps you will see those that are live and for a few moments, awake... Aside from the Ents, the views are breathtaking, and it's hard to find other more satisfying journeys than this. I invite you to follow my steps and get happier...
Read moreActually we didn't make it to get up to top. Plus from top there is 40min walk to castle.
So what I'm actually reviewing if I haven't been there.
Well we have been there in December in rented car. Road to castle was so f narrow that we have stopped half way and have had picnic in first layby available.
It was difficult in big car to get there (single line) when every few min car was coming down.
But the view there is great even from half way.
Mountain looks great.
Scenery spectacular.
Next time I will just have walk from bottom I think will take 2h.
Plus I don't want to even imagine driving there in season with 10...
