Nice museum but rude and unprofessional staff. We arrived at just after 5pm, the website said that it was open until 6. We were told that the museum was closed already but the garden was open until 5:30 (no reduction in price). The café was also closed despite supposedly being open until 6. Our friends decided to go into the garden but my wife and I decided not to because we'd already been here. So we waited outside near the ticket office for a few minutes, then my wife wanted to find somewhere more comfortable to wait. A few minutes later the woman from the ticket office came out demanding to know where my wife had gone, saying that if she'd gone into the garden she'd have to pay. I said that our friends went into the garden but not my wife, and I wasn't sure where she was, but that she'd gone outside the complex. But she clearly didn't believe me so she called security to look for my wife. After a few more minutes she came out again and told me I'd have to pay for my wife's visit. Then the security guard came back and told her that she was indeed outside the complex and had not gone into the garden. The woman did curtly apologize but the whole experience was unpleasant and unprofessional.
EDIT: I wrote this review before we returned to the cars and discovered the flat tyre. They were indeed quite helpful but that does not change the rudeness earlier. And I was not expecting special treatment or to get in free; I was objecting to being accused of trying to cheat them and not being believed when I told them that we were...
Read moreWow! Absolutely incredible! I can't even describe how much I loved this place. I wish we'd arrived earlier because I could have easily spent an entire day here wandering the beautiful gardens and the galleries. If you're wondering whether to pay the extra and take the tour of the house....DO! It is truly one of the most magnificent spaces I've ever found myself in. The couple who owned the house and collected all the art/artefacts are people after my own heart and I found myself wanting to just move in. The guide was fantastic, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the art on display, and we spent at least an hour inside the house. I just didn't know where to look. There was so much to see. The only problem we had was actually getting there. Some taxi drivers evidently don't want to go there, and we were ejected from the first one we tried as soon as we showed the address. The last part of the road leading to the museum is a gravel track and very narrow, so maybe the bigger mini bus type taxis would have a problem. I recommend you use the Mallorcab app, and then you can put in where you're going first, and a willing driver will accept the journey. If you're hiking types like us, the walk back from the museum to the port is spectacularly beautiful and gave us the idea for our next days walk up over the hills. 100 percent recommend you see this museum. It should be listed as the number 1 thing to...
