UNWELCOMED, CONDESENDING AND VERY RUDE STAFF. IF YOU CAN, PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
I wish I had read the reviews before booking.
Booking over the phone, and at the PRO Golf shop on the day was excellent. The lady serving at 8:20 am was on her own, there were 5 people in front of us and she was cool, calm, collected and super friendly and polite.
We hired the clubs and a buggy. After about 3 hours of playing, a man approached behind me, and without greeting me or even saying as much as hello. He said: Spanish? Yes, I replied. Can you read?! Pardon me? I said. Can you read? he repeated. Now, I found this question extremely rude and very condescending, not to mention offensive. I said to him: why don’t you tell me what have I done wrong? And what do you would like me to do? He replied, you are too close to the green and I want you to move back and walk a little! We have green arrows indicating the buggy cannot go past. I said ok, and I moved the car back to the path. I understand I broke the rules.
I would like to point out we didn’t approach the green on propuse or because we didn’t feel like following the rules, we had been playing for 3 hours by now, the green was quite high and I didn’t notice I was close to it, this is why I immediately moved when he pointed it out.
What a silly way to approach someone about something we were doing wrong. Can you read?
As we were driving to the next whole, I was approached by the actual caddy who prepared our buggy and the golf clubs. He said: Senora! your were too close to the green back there. I said to him, I know, I have been told! And by the way I didn’t appreciate the way your colleague spoke to me and I explained what happened. The caddy replied, yes, but I told you the rules and you were too close to the green. I said to him, I know, I understand that and I am sorry, I moved immediately. Is just the way I was approached. As if I was stupid and didn’t know how to read. He shrugged and left.
When we returned the buggy, the caddy said to us, again in a very rude and condescending tone, I need to check everything is in order and that all the clubs are here! Again, I understand that is his job. But come on, there is no need to say or speak to us like that. I said to him, please go ahead! After a quick count he was satisfied and we left.
We are very fortunate and we have played golf around the world, Mauritius, Maldives, Mexico, and the USA. We belong to 2 different golf clubs back home in the UK. Hampton Court Golf club and Sandown Golf Club, we regularly play at Bruges Hill Golf club and Silvermear Golf Club. Never in my life I had been treated and spoken to like that. I was extremely disappointed . I will never recommend this club to our golfer friends.
Now, on to the restaurant. Hoping to get a quick bite to eat before returning to our hotel, we walked to the restaurant. We asked for a table for 2 , and the waiter asked if we had a reservation. I replied no. There were only 3 tables occupied in the terrace. He said he could only offer us a table inside. The tables inside were not set up at all, we were made to feel very unwelcome. I found this service so poor and disappointing. Especially after the immaculate experience and excellent service we had at our hotel Iberostar Selection.
I asked if they could order a taxi for us, and got told it’s not possible and I will need to download an app and try to get a taxi myself. We said thank you and walk back to the golf shop, we’re the ladies were very helpful, again! And ordered a taxi for us! Using a system on their computers. May I suggest that you let your staff at the restaurant know that the shop WILL arrange a taxi for them and they have systems to do it.
It is very sad the in this day and age, this golf club still patronises women (read other reviews by female players) and it operated by misogynist staff who don’t care and have no idea about service and politeness. They just want your money and to get you...
Read moreWe played at this course yesterday (30th August 2017) as a 5 ball. 3 ladies, one of whom was celebrating her 60th birthday, and 2 men; playing in a 3 and 2 ball. The first warning sign that things were not going to be worth the massive €142 Euro round (green fee+hire of buggy+hire of clubs), was that the clubs had not been cleaned. The pro shop had told us that the clubs were renewed every year, but for one of the ladies sets they were at least 2 years old and well worn. However the clubs aside, to give out dirty muddy clubs is unforgivable, when paying this much money. I will say in a balanced review that it was a nice touch that the buggies had a bottle of water and 3 balls were provided. My 9 year old daughter could operate a mower with more finesse. You can see on the fairways and around the greens where the mower has seemingly grounded out and burnt or cut the grass to earth. Coupled with this there are areas of the green and or approach to the hole, where it is dry or scorched, or areas, anywhere else Europe, which would be described as 'ground under repair'. The greens themselves were a disgrace. They were in an appalling state of disrepair, with dry, scorched, sandy, muddy areas with pine needles everywhere (as they have not been swept) and weeds everywhere. There were also pitch marks everywhere as I presume people were of the state of mind that the greens are so bad, they just can't be bothered to repair their pitches, as what difference would it make. So... hollow tining of the greens coupled with the dreadful state of the greens made the whole experience for a 60th birthday outing a complete let down and a massive disappointment, to a group who had spent a vast sum of money for a once in a lifetime round of golf. In reading some of the other reviews on trip advisor I am not alone. Even the manager admits that the course is not up to par (and I quote from a reply he has written): "...By law we have to use recycled sewage water to irrigate to golf course - "unfortunately" the sewage recycling plant in Alcudia is finally undergoing a mayor renovation with is causing a lot of problems this summer with the water supply (both, quantity and quality). Together with the heat we are experiencing this summer (no rain since May but well over 30 degrees since beginning of June), some areas of the course have turned brown. We think though that it is mainly a visual impact and not so much an impact on the play..." The last sentence I absolutely disagree on... It does impact play. The ball does not run as it should in the damaged areas, of which there are plenty. Not to mention that when you putt the ball bobbles and weaves everywhere, and does not run true. In admitting that the course is below the grade expected, why oh why do they continue to charge full price. I can only presume that they are hoping that tourists to the island do not complain (we tried but the clubhouse was shut), and they take the money and run. When you pay as much money as we did for a round of golf, you expect a top dollar experience. You expect to play on quality greens and fairways. You expect a great experience from the hiring of clean clubs to the facilities on offer (the eating hut was not staffed on the 10th.) You expect the golf club to live up to its slogan of being the 'best option to play golf in Mallorca..." You expect not to be disappointed! Sadly our experience fell short. It was well below par in every aspect, except the views. My advice is that if you are spending your hard earned cash and you believe that the amount of money you pay should be indicative of the quality of experience in return, and you would be disappointed for that price if your expectation was not met, then look elsewhere. If you are used to spending money and not expecting great things, then crack on and marvel at the potential of this golf course to offer great golf, with the amazing views. As for us... we depart with a heavy heart and a feeling...
Read more(You should have refunded some of the $550 being you are admitting you are 100% wrong by not informing us of the short tees! This is just placating me and not a good response at all.
I paid for rental clubs for [2] people and a Buggy (golf cart) and it was supposed to come with {1} sleeve of balls and also tees. This cost well over $500. When we got to the 1st tee box we discovered they only gave us these 2" tees. They are super strict on your tee time and if you miss it you are out of the rotation. We had no time to get long tees and this ruined the entire experience. This would have been a memorable day on a beautiful golf course, but instead we had to tee off on 14 holes with irons and 3 wood because the tees where so short. When we were done I said this to the Caddymaster and he said, "yea, I don't like them but these were the only ones they sent us." This implies the club knows they are too short so they should have told us to buy long tees. Nobody even a pro could play 18 holes with these. The course is beautiful. They are very strict on your tee time so don't be late! Make sure you bring or buy long tees if your get the rental clubes. $500+ down the...
