Centro Histórico de Benavente — Attraction in Benavente

This is NOT one of the world's best Historic Centres. Not even Best In Spain.

It is not majestic, like Salamanca, nor charming, like Estepona.

And a lot of it is, unfortunately, defaced by graffiti. What is the Policía Local doing about it? What is the Alcalde doing about it? It is a disgrace.

However, there are things to see, and I can recommend the following sites/sights in the Old Town.

*The Plaza Mayor, especially the Ayuntamiento

Iglesia Santa Maria del Azogue

Iglesia San Juan del Mercado

Torre del Caracol, (part of the Parador)

Hospital de la Piedad, (not a hospital but a former religious lodging house for pilgrims)

Benavente es una de las villas no agradiadad de la zona. No obstante su centro histórico lo aminora. Desde su iglesia imponente hasta calles empedradas con plazas que recuerdan a ciudades mas grandes. En l zona hay númerosos pub donde tomarse algo y la zona de aparcamiento no está lejos, aunque eso sí, tendrá que ser en zona azul.
